I am hazarding a guess it is a Homey issue. I too have Meross plugs and can only see one variable. The Tapo plugs I have donāt show anything.
Iāll refer to my post here: a lot of Matter devices use(d) non-standard Matter clusters to convey energy data (at the time that made sense, because older versions of Matter lacked a standardised way of doing so), and while other home automation platforms have implemented support for those clusters, Homey has not.
is it worth to keep this Meross matter plugs as one day maybe it will be fully supported by homey? Im asking because meross plugs have really good price comparing to fibaro plugs
We donāt know Athomās plans on supporting non-standard clusters, nor do we know Merossā plans on moving their devices to use standard clusters.
Are you referring to the MS315? With Merossās latest firmware update, those should now work smoothly over Matter. I have two at home, and I can monitor wattage, voltage, amperage, and total energy consumption.
Yes, Iām referring to the MS315 - and Iāve got latest update firmware version 9.5.36 (I made a mistake and order ZF instead of EU - maybe thats why I donāt see W, V and A?
Just did a quick test and I can see all capabilities listed but it doesnāt seem to update W, V and A. We will have a look at it!
Thats exactly what I see too with meross.
This is what I see with Tapo. But happy to bin the Tapo off if the meross will work.
Ah, interesting! So, youāre experiencing the same issue with Tapo. Which plug model are you using?
We took a quick look at the situation, and it seems that these devices initially report āI have RMS measurements"
prompting Homey to start listening to those RMS clusters. However, later on, the device begins reporting to different clusters, leaving the RMS cluster as undefined
.
Example voltage: 233100,
Example activeCurrent: 46,
Example activePower: 4945,
Example rmsVoltage: undefined,
Example rmsCurrent: undefined,
Example rmsPower: undefined,
Keep yāall posted!
Iām using the Tapo P110 matter with energy monitoring.
@Doekse, it seems that the new Shelly Plug S Gen3 has the same problem:
Please check the following topic:
Shelly Plug Gen.3 mit Bluetooth und Matter
Hi @Doekse, any news regarding displaying the power?
I bought a Shelly Plug S Gen 3 myself and can confirm that there is still no power or consumption displayed?
Any update @Doekse ?
No updates just yet, the team is currently focused on finalizing Homey Energy. But itās definitely on our radar.
So currently only the Eve Energy Smart Plug is actually displaying energy consumption as expected, right? Can anyone confirm this please?
A fix has been made and will probably be implemented with version 12.4.2 or 12.5.0 of the Homey Pro (Early 2023) firmware.
Good to note, it could be that you need to delete the device and add it again for the capabilities to show up the right way.
Thanks @Doekse One more question, is it expected that if I unplug and plug again the device everything is reset to 0?
Itās happening for Meross MS315 for sure
You donāt need to unplug anything, just re-pair the device with Homey.
Regarding the behavior of the MS315 plug, it appears to be an issue with the device itself. I tested it with both Homey and Home Assistant using Matter, and in both cases, it resets its values after losing power. It seems the data is stored in volatile memory.
