Homey Energy Dongle ⚡️ - Megathread

Hey people!
I bought the energy dongle and unfortunately misread that my smart meter works with mbus.
Does anyone has an idea if there is some kind of mbus to esmr converter? I haven’t found good information on google yet.

Hard to find indeed.
When you are in Austria, how about a HomeWizard P1 dongle?

Hi!
I hade the exact same problem. It start working for me after about 12 hours. I did have a conversation with support where they informed me that the rate Limit is about two hours, but this was not the case for me.

I’m curious about whát gets rate limited?
The data from the utility meter, or the data from the dongle to Homey?
Did support tell you anything about that?

Had the same rate limited error, Aidon 7410 meter. The Homey app found the dongle, but couldn’t connect to the wifi.
Hooked it up to external power, and it immediately connected and updated. Unplugged and the connection has stayed up for a while now.

No, I do not think they know.
But I tried it with external power source not connected to the meter and had the same problem.
Even tried it with a different dongle (my friend has one to), same problem.
Even did a factory reset on the homey and tried it with a clean installation, still same problem.
So in my case it had to be between Homey and some kind of api. I guess registration to some kind of IoT broker, but that is just my guess.
It suddently start working without any changes.

I got my energy Dongle yesterday but it doesn’t show up in either Homey app on a Pixel 7 pro or an Iphone. I have tried to add usb power, and have it conntected to the p1 port and not having it there. Blue light with and without the usb power. If i try and reset the dongle light never turns red. Scanning for bluetooth devices I have something called BLUFI_ENERGY_DONGLE? Seems like my dongle is dead on arrival? Very frustrating :frowning:

Looks like it is alive,
but if your phone doesn’t find it… indeed frustrating.
Please contact Athom support: Support | Homey

and maybe try to give it new Firmware from a PC or Mac: https://usb.homey.app/

It successfully flashed but still doesn’t show up in the homey app :frowning: Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a homey pro (2019) which cannot see the homey energy dongle when I search for new devices, can the homey energy dongle only run on the homey pro (2023)?

I have them working fine alongside eachother. But I don;t know where to place my problem;
My homey dongle sends numerous 90% load warnings to every device I use my homey app on when my EV is charging (3 phase).
I didn’t make a flow myself, nor is there any setting so I can prevent this from sending notifications as the 90% isn’t a problemeatic value.
Any ideas how to get rid of those notifications? I don’t want to block Homey notifications in general for my flow-created notifications that I do want to happen

In the meantime, try this please:
At mobile app, edit Homescreen, edit timeline widget, select 'Show only.." and disable Energy dongle
(if it’s there that is)

Might be a stupid question. But my solaredge device in homey constantly freezes or stops refreshing data (connected to cable network). I suspect I no longer need that when reading out P1 with the energy dongle? The dongle should also report on how much power I put or take from the network?

Yes and No, both report different info. Except when you don’t consume Energy…

  1. Dongle reports Produced when no energy is produced.
  2. SolarEdge reports produced but that is not returned complete, u consume self and the different is returened and reported by the P1

Hi guys,

Anyone had any luck getting readings with the dongle in Finland?

My meter is an Aidon 7410P with RJ12 HAN port. Homey says it should work plug and play but after several tries the dongle does not read any data.

I have checked from the energy company that the port is opened and has no encyption. Homey support tried to fix it but that did not help.

I kind of gave up and ordered Home Wizard but keen to know if someone has the same meter and getting readings?

I’m having some trouble with my Dongle disconnecting at random times. I just need to give it some power to get it back working. Anyone else having this problem.

Yesterday I disabled my 5 GHz wi-fi to check if that solves the problem.

My dongle did have a one-time disconnect which lasted seconds since receiving it.
Mine is powered by a wall outlet for reference.

Just trying to add the Dongle. But i get an error when reading out data.
Install process steps:
Connect it to P1
Add device in Homey app
Setup WiFi
Device connects to WiFi
Connected to WiFi
Next Step: Collect data; Device turns red.
Message in App “Can not read the data from your smart meter”
When i try to click the “make diagnostic report” i get an error about something went wrong.

I have a new Sagemcom T211, since march 2025; Enexis Netherlands. On the portal of Enexis, the read out function is toggled ON. Dongle also flashed with new firmware by usb.

Any solutions or is the dongle failty?

As adviced often: Start by adding an external power supply, at least until all’s set up and running.
