Homey Energy Dongle ⚡️ - Megathread

I have a Landy’s+Gyr E360 as well and have been using the Dongle for a couple of months now for testing. No issues at all here.

Looking into it!

Oh wow if this is the case than this is a major oversight by Athom.

But mine won’t just not read data, it also isn’t responsive in Homey.

I have an Enexis Ziv.

Same problem here:
Connected the dongle. Did a software update.
After that a few times only a red blinking light. Even with USB power connected.
After a reset and installing on the app again no connection with the Landys + Gyr E360…

What to do?

I have a problem with Landys + Gyr E350.

Homey says: Received unvalid data (translated from Dutch, Ongeldige gegevens ontvangen.)

Tried it also with USB power connected, I see no difference.

Ok I got it working.

It was breathing red, no data. Tried the factory reset but that didn’t work.

Now again I pushed the reset pin, but when it turned blue I stopped. Went back to add device and now it works.

Homey Energy dongle interferes with car charger

Got my energy dongle today. Installing was easy. I connected the dongle to my P1 port. For this, I had to disconnect the car charger interface cable that was connected to the P1. The car charger connector goes on the other side of the dongle. Easy peasy.

Not. At first, everything seemed to be OK. I can monitor all power, current and voltage values from my energy meter. Then, I connected my car to the charger and started charging. Within 1 minute, I got a Homey message stating that the maximum power had been exceeded. My car charger switched off. Bummer. Tried again. Disconnect car, reconnect car. Start charging. It charged at 5 A (normally 16A). 2 minutes later: “Power exceed”, car charger switches off again.

Now I disconnected the energy dongle and restarted the car charging process again: everything is fine again!

So, what’s happening? Is the dongle influencing the data from the other source (car charger)?
Can I alter some settings to fix this? I’ve spend €39, but I can’t use it.

Received my homey energy. Experienced some connectivity issues without connecting to power. But in general easy setup.
I already used a plugwise smile that is now connected to the homey energy p1 output.
Seems my current output for the 3 fases is rounded to a full amp. Plugwise shows this with two decimals.

Having both connected i get the feeling that the refresh rate of some parameters sometimes gets delayed quite a lot.. minutes up to an hour… not sure if this is related to having both connected?
I alread tried to exclude one of them from the energy tab, but that didn’t help.

Maybe some experience same behavior, then I like to learn. BR Ad

Honestly the process seem not intuitive at all. I had to fumble to get it to work as well.
The fact the led status was not in the manual, well that was not helping.

Where can I add this limiet

Go into the settings of the homey energy dongle itself, then it should be under the “status indicator” setting option, called: Phase capacity

I already filled this in 1 phase, 35a

same message

204 / 5.000
I also connected the dongle to a Landis+Gyr E360 smart meter. Reset the dongle a few times, also tried it with USB power. No success.

If there is no solution tomorrow, I give up and send it back.

In afraid athom will get a lot of returns

I am sure there will be a solution soon.
Tomorrow I will receive an active P1 splitter, that seemed to have solved the issues for other users.
If that really solves things, it looks there are some compatibility issues with Landis + Gyr smart-meters..
I will post the result asap.

If you have the Landis+Gyr E360, try plugging the Dongle into the additional USB-C power first, then connect it to the meter afterwards.

Any ideas for the E350?

I tried your solution for E360, didnt help.

We recently recorded a how-to video on Homey Energy (going live soon!) using the E350. It initially showed a red LED when connecting the dongle, but started working immediately after plugging in USB-C power. Just a heads-up, it might take a little while after setup before data begins appearing in the Homey app

But in the end all the SMR 5.0 meters should give enough power to let is work without extra power. The homewizard doesn’t have issues without power, i would have thought the homey would not have any issues like this. Its not really plug n play. Hopefully firmware update will solve this soon. I feels a bit as a beta product for now. I think they will feel the same when they see the returns coming in.

In not returning it since im a homey user for a long time and I am still hoping that firmware upgrades will solve this

I havent seen a red light, it just says “Ongeldige gegevens ontvangen.”

Ill be patient and hope your video will soon online.

Thanks!

Already tried this, unfortunately that didn’t help.
I think I tried everything now.
Last option for now seems to be the active P1 splitter. To be continued tomorrow….
