[APP][Pro] Homewizard 🧙‍♂️

Hi, I did a upgrade from 2019 to 2023 Homey pro. I lost lots of device connections, but some of them I have able to recover. But I am not able to reconnect my P1 meter back. It was working in 2019 but in 2023 the app cannot find it. (devices → new device → homewizard → p1 → connect → searching devices, no new devices was found) Is there any way to debug what is happening and what is wrong?

see first post

Thx. mDNS works [_hwenergy._tcp.] And P1 is answering via [10.1.1.80/api/v1/data]. Is there way to “manually” tell where the device is?

Nope I haven’t and will not cater for manually forced IP as that already is big problem with DHCP wandering devices in nearly all user base for this app.
My bet is that your AP and or your Homey do not process mDNS at moment so I advise you to give the Homey and the connected AP a restart as that has been the solution to many users here that raised the same problem before in this topic.

Yesterday I called the grid operator Liander. She also saw that the last update was on 11-01-2025.

She restarted the meter and indicated to wait and see.

1 day later the gas data suddenly came into the homey.

Apparently there was an error in the smart meter that was solved by a restart of the smart meter by the grid operator.

Great to hear. So many things can go wrong but a smartmeter that has to be restarted is a first here.

I don’t know if this is the right topic for this question

Since the homey update to 12.3.0, all of my homewizzard devices are not available.
Restart homey, restart the homewizzard app doesn’t work.

In the mobile app from homewizzard works everything fine.

I don’t want to re-install the app in homey, otherwise I have to repair flows. So I hope I can respair it on a different way.

Is there anybody how can help me?

Homey app version 9.1.0
Homey version 12.3.0
Homewizzard app version 3.3.26

Hi @Rickert1993

Did you tried to restart the app instead of re-install? That should not affect your flows.

I only restart the app.
If I understand, I can delete the homewizzard app in homey and re-install it, and everything keeps working?

That will affect all your flows

That is not an app problem but a mdns wifi problem in your network.
Give your accespoint(s) that connect homey and your Homewizard devices a reboot.

You’re the best, restart the accespoints is the solution!
Thanks!!

Nah, I am not the best. Just happen to know the downside of the mdns method in these wifi networks suddenly stop working. Its about 95% if the issues raised related to my Homewizard app here.

You were right, its mDNS problem. But weird thing is that homey is “publishing” its own services when I query them via scan (iphone/linux). But when I do a discovery in ssh-sandbox it cannot get anything.

homey@homey-pro-sandbox:/$ sudo mdns-scan

  • Joni’s Homey Pro._homey._tcp.local
  • AthomBV HomeyPro #28F6._meshcop._udp.local
    Browsing … \

Have you seen similar issue?

Yes when there vlans (subnets) and the a mdns relay/proxy isnt processing these udp packets properly.

But you hit the nail on the head here. It is frankly impossible for me to support Homewizard devices via mdns as it all comes down how the local wifi/network set up per user. Currently this app has over 15000 installs and I cant “see” “know” how people have their networks configured.

Agreed, mDNS is difficult service to troubleshoot and Homey does not offer any tools or troubleshoot. Also I am wondering reason why Homey does not allow me to read logs from the app.

In my case mDNS works in Homey partly, and all other devices works in my network. So I dont think this a network issue.

And thx for your help! so far I can say its mDNS problem in homey, not in a app.

Yeah I thought it was weird too, but it helped so I’m happy.

Maybe also a solution for people who have this error in the future.

Thanks for the help!

I have the latest HomeWizard Engergy app(Android) installed but I can not find anywhere the option for enabling local API. Is that still needed and if so, can anybody tell me where this option moved to?(1.24.4 build 106)

But furthermore, is it correct that the P1 should be able to connect directly to the App in Homey Pro (model early 2019) without the Android App installed and only the Homey Pro app HomeWizard app?

And if so, I already looked at the possible things that could be wrong when I can not connect it, but must the P1 already connected to Wifi before trying to connect it to the Homey Pro with the App (in the Homey Pro it self) for HomeWizard installed?

Settings, meters, P1, scroll down and there it is.

I have the same version

API setting of the phone app

The Homey app connects directly with the P1 dongle on your local network already!, but you have to use the phone app to add it to wifi, and enable local API

Not sure why you want to remove the HW phone app?

Yes. Otherwise Homey can’t find it on your network
