I am just starting my smart home adventure and new to Homey Pro. I am trying to pair an Arre smart button via matter. It’s the same smart button as the Tuo, that shows up on the buyers guide on the Homey site.
I am having an issue getting it to pair. It went through the connection process and said it was paired with Homey Pro. When I hit done, it stalls on a window that says please wait, but then gives an error that it couldn’t add the device. It says 0x0704. Not sure what any of that means. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sam from arre home here, don’t think this is an issue on the arre button side… Would love to give any and all information regarding our button to any Homey engineers to better diagnose the problem…
It won’t pair through matter and Homey doesn’t have any arre apps to help get it paired. It asks me for the thread network key and I have no clue where to find that.
That is the matter code, it’s asking for the thread network key. Says it’s a 32 digit code.
I got it paired through smartthings. I got a qr code to share it with homey pro, but it still won’t connect. Gives me the same 0x0704 error, or can’t find device. It’s the same smart button as the TUO, but for some reason won’t connect.
I have same issue. Here is the response from Hommy Support:

I submitted this problem to our developer. He indicates you get this error when Homey tries to retrieve data from a Matter device, but there is no such data. In this case, Homey is trying to read something that the device says is there, but then is not.
Unfortunately, there is no solution for this at this time but our developers are working hard to see how they can fix this. If they have received a solution for this, an update will be rolled out for this.
I would like to ask you to keep an eye on the changelog of Homey. Homey Pro (Early 2023) Changelog | Homey
“In this case, Homey is trying to read something that the device says is there, but then is not.”
I am not entirely sure what this means. The device does what it is supposed to do according to the Matter spec and works with just about every ecosystem that supports Generic Switches…
I am willing to speak to any dev at Homey if they want to get this resolved sooner…
I’ll add my frustration to the discussion. I purchased an Arre smart button without consulting the forum, and ended up having the same issue as the others in this discussion. Hopefully, we can get an app developed for this button! I sure like the form factor, feel, and the fact that it is thread based. Fingers crossed!
With today’s (1/15/2025) release of Homey Pro version 12.3.0, I was able to successfully add the Arre Smart Button. However, it does not seem that the Arre Button clicks / long presses are being triggered in the Homey Flows…
I opened a case with Athom on this issue… their response was not very helpful with addressing this matter over thread issue for a supported device type… maybe my description of the issue was not very clear…
@samgabbay Have you had any luck contacting Athom / Homey Pro as a device manufacturer to address any issues with your devices? (From the Homey Website, there is a link for Manufacturers to contact the Homey Pro team (The Talks with Homey Program | Homey). I’m not sure if you’re aware of this option.
I’m getting the impression that Athom has started to use some kind of AI to generate their support responses. Here’s another user that got a very similar response to their question: Insides / historical data not working since firmware 12.3.0
Just to confirm that you’re not crazy: I’m having the exact same experience after the software update (being able to pair, but not getting any button preses recorded). It’s sad that this seems to be a Homey issue that is being acknowledged in the fact that they did something to address it, but it still doesn’t work
I also noticed that in the best buy guide they use the Arre button as the header image, but then do not list it in the guide itself Smart Remotes & Buttons | Best Buy Guide
Oh, and as a very convoluted workaround, I was able to use the Arre button by pairing it to my Homekit hub, then exposing a fake light from homey to homekit, and then trigger a flow based on the state of that light changing. As I said: not an ideal solution, but at least it works
It is always nice to get confirmation that I’m not crazy (some days, I wonder… ).
The Arre Button (maybe it was the “Tuo Button” before the company changed its name from Tuo to Arre) was on the best buy some time ago. Not sure when it was removed from the list.
The last information that I got from the help desk and from the Homey Marketing team is that they are partnering with Arre to get sample devices for testing.
I’m hoping that Homey’s testing is in progress and that there will be a resolution soon.
