Alexa stopped working as of Jun 3rd, 2025

Is anyone else having troubles getting Alexa or Google to control a device (zwave) connected through Homey? Commands worked last night. This morning around 8am things started to fail.
I have:
Reset the router
Reset the Homey device
Disabled and re-enabled the Homey app in the Alexa app several times
I can control the zwave devices in the Homey app. So the Homey hardware is talking to the Zwave switches and dimmers. Zwave sensors will turn on Zwave lights, all in Homey.
Wifi contact sensors (wyze brand) will not control the homey controlled Zwave light. That function is an Alexa routine.
All voice commands to control a zwave device fail. Voice commands to control a wifi device, not a part of Homey work.
Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Thanks for posting this. I thought I was the only one.

On 6/2/25 Alexa just stopped working when responding to voice commands that would control any Homey linked devices. Very rarely it will turn on a light when commanded, for example, but still says that the device isn’t responding.

I rebooted all my network devices and checked that the Homey and Alexa devices are network-connected.

I rebooted the Homey Pro.

I disabled the Homey skill in Alexa and re-linked.

I deleted several Homey-linked devices from the Alexa app. Asking Alexa to discover new devices does not find them. No new devices can be detected into Alexa.

All devices (ZWave, Zigbee, etc) work fine from Homey app. Nothing from Alexa works.

Hopefully someone will find out what got broken and will let us know when it will be fixed.

I am having the exact same issues with Alexa not working with ANY Homey connected devices. I’ve tried all of the same troubleshooting steps… rebooting everything… disabling Homey skill and re-enabling… attempt to discover new devices through Alexa. None of that worked.

Some older posts have mentioned that Homey credentials may expire periodically and Alexa won’t work until the credentials are re-established. If that’s the case, then I suppose we have to wait it out… but it is very annoying.

Hi. I have been using Homey with Alexa for several years. Yesterday, my devices suddenly stopped working with Alexa. They still work perfectly fine with Homey via the app, but I am no longer able to have Alexa operate any Homey connected devices.

I have rebooted Homey, the WiFi Network, removed the alexa skill and re-enabled it.
None of that worked.

I then manually removed all Homey connected devices from Alexa and re-enabled the skill. I then tried to “discover new devices,” and Alexa is unable to find any of the Homey devices.

Has anyone had this problem? Seems Alexa and Homey are no longer on speaking terms.

Others have mentioned this issue today on another post: Alexa stopped working as of Jun 3rd, 2025

Thank you for sharing. I did some searching and didn’t see anything that was fixable by a user.

Is this a common problem? Apologies for the strange question, but I’m a new user and am expecting my Homey Pro to be delivered tomorrow. I was planning on converting all of my devices over to Homey, but without an Alexa voice integration my wife would be furious.

This would be a show stopper for my household. A brief 30 minute outage every few months, maybe I’d survive, but reliability is important especially when family members are telling Alexa to turn on the lights.

I’ve had my Homey Pro since February and the Alexa integration has been flawless up until yesterday. So, I don’t think it’s a common problem, but I have seen posts from a couple of years ago that describe the same or similar issue.

I don’t think Alexa will find any of your Homey connected devices until this is resolved, so you may want to hold off on setting up your Alexa integration for now.

I’ve sent a support request to Homey. If we all do that maybe it will get a faster response from them.

Thanks for the information. I agree, I’m not touching anything on my current devices (on SmartThings). Honestly I may reconsider my decision to migrate to Homey. Very disappointing.

I too am having the same problem, also starting around the same time.

I have been experiencing the same issue with Alexa unable to do anything in Homey for >38 hours. This includes starting flows, controlling and reading the status of Zigbee and virtual devices. All flows and devices work under Homey control from web, mobile app and dashboards. This is the first time I have had this experience since acquiring the Homey Pro 2023 8+ months ago.

I have tried the following without success:
Restarted Homey Pro 2023 v12.4.7 (soft restart and power cycle)
Updated, cleared cache and restarted Alexa app
Disconnected and relinked Alexa Homey skill
Power cycled router

I reported the issue to Alexa Help and have not heard back.

Might be more useful to report the issue to Athom.

I have just done that as well.

Yes, this does not appear to be an Amazon Alexa issue.

Do these pages have any meaning? The “uptime” tab showing the history shows no issues - regardless of the selection (“Amazon Alexa”, APIs, Apps, etc.) I find it difficult to believe that it is very accurate. Perhaps it’s just a marketing tool?

They aren’t updated automatically, only if Athom acknowledges the issue will something be shown there.

Thanks, that’s what I thought too. Just a bit strange that Athom hasn’t acknowledged anything for the last 2+ months in any area. Kind of suspect…

And, which of the Alexa items are you referring to?

we are referring to the Alexa integration, where you can ask “Alexa turn on my light” or do something with any other Homey connected device.
