The new Philips Hue Bridge

Same Problem. I create the Matter code on the Hue Bridge Pro but Homey is stuck on the “search” screen. No Error no nothing. Am I doing anything wrong?

Just updated the Homey Pro to v 12.7.0 but the new Hue Bridge Pro is still not recognised. Installed (added) the old hue bridge with a new name. The readded bridge is found but not the new hue bridge pro. But after searching for a new item on the extra bridge I receive an error. Autheticaton Token Expired. After the error the Philips Hue v7.1.0 app has status crashed. And needs to be restarted.

The Hue app need a update not the homey pro unit for the bridge pro to work. We are all waiting with anticipation  They announced / talked about it that is would be this week if testing goes well.

Hue app 7.1.0 is a version from 20-08 see changelog.

I have my hue connected truth matter can I migrate to the new hue?

Is the update out?

@Doekse, can you give us an update on the progress?

I was able to make the existing app work, by using socat and some NAT rules on my router to make the https server (443) on the bridge available as unencrypted http (80).

What happens, is that Homey will get some information on port 80 before connecting to port 443. Due to the new RED cybersecurity requirements, new Hue Bridge Firmware versions cannot support this first step on port 80 anymore. It’s just a coincidence that the Hue Bridge Pro was released before a new firmware version with the same issue was released for the Hue Bridge v2!

Homey was not able to recognize migrated devices and scenes from my old bridge though, so I had to reinstall the Hue app on Homey and reconfigure all devices and flows. I guess this is because Homey links devices to the Hue bridge’s serial number or something like that. Hopefully, I don’t have to do this again when the Hue Bridge Pro is officially supported!

I’m not sure where this information came from, but there hasn’t been an update yet. When we do release it, the update will be available for Homey (2016–2019), Homey Pro (Early 2023), and Homey Pro mini.

The update will most likely be pushed to the testing channel tomorrow. Please note that this is not a stable release, bugs are to be expected. If you want to be certain everything works reliably, it’s best to wait for the stable release.

Oh sorry I read it wrong indeed. Good to hear😃

As I can see here Homey Pro (Early 2023) and Homey Pro mini Changelog | Homey and here Homey Pro (2016 — 2019) Changelog | Homey the update v12.7 is only available from the Homey Pro 2023.
You state that it will also be available on the 2016-2019 models?

I hope you’re right, because otherwise I won’t be able to use it anymore for the 140+ Hue lights & switches. Right now we already switched back to the Hue app for this, but it would be very sad to stop using Homey :frowning:

So I’ll keep checking for the update the following days

I’m talking about the update for the Philips Hue App for Homey that adds support for the new bridge, not the system updates you’re referring to.

Updates for integrations (or “apps” as we call them) are separate from system updates. If every app update required a full system update, you’d end up updating your Homey constantly

You can find the changelog for the Phillips Hue App for Homey on the App Store page under the “What’s new” section.

Ok, I misread the changelog then. Thanks, I’ll wait for the app update then :+1:

Any update on the release timeframe. Look like testing is not according to plan as this week no release yet?

“The update will most likely be pushed to the testing channel tomorrow”

Sorry for the dense question. How do you get access to the testing channel for this release?

On any Homey App Store app page, you can click View changelog at the bottom of the page. If a test version is available, it will be listed at the top with an orange “Test” badge. Clicking it will take you to the test version of the app, which can then be installed.

Alternatively, you can add /test to the end of the App Store URL, but that only works when a test version of the app is available.

Thank you. Appreciated.

I see a new version of the HUE app (7.1.1) has been released - unfortunately without support for Bridge Pro.

Yep, I see it too. I think we have to wait a little bit longer :frowning:

For those that are wondering it seems the update for the hue app with support for Bridge Pro is pending internal review.
