The release date of the new Philips Hue’s bridge (connect 150 lights to one bridge in stead of 63) will be somewhere in September (not officially announced by Signify). I will be probably one of the first to buy this bridge. Questions:
Are you already working on a smooth integration within the Philips Homey app? Or shall I wait purchasing the bridge?
There will be a new ‘Motion Aware’ function. (At least) Three bulbs within the same room will work kind of a motion sensor. Can this be used in an advanced flow?
Sorry if you think I’m way to premature on this subject. I’m just too excited.
A Shelly BLU motion detector costs €13.90 here in Germany. Don’t get mad at me, but for that price I’m not even thinking about buying the new Hue Bridge until it’s clear whether the new functions of the Hue Bridge can even be used in Homey. I don’t have over 63 lights either. I think the old Bridge should continue to work well for me for a long time and I’d be better off investing the money in proper motion detectors.
No offence, but the functionality of the new Hue Bridge doesn’t excite me at all.
Nice! So it’s best to wait for the update before changing hubs?
I guess we’ll see an update, or is there a chance it could change without updating the Hue app?
Hmmm… if I were you I’d wait for a confirmation from Athom, or for a note from a user who succesfully migrated devices from old hue > new hue and if there’s action needed with Homey.
Is it so difficult to understand that the new bridge is currently not working?
So put it under your pillow and be happy with it until Athom releases a new version with support for the Hue Bridge Pro. Because if you keep tinkering, there’s a big risk that you’ll have to reinstall everything.
The fact that the Hue Bridge pro will be compatible with Homey does not mean that the motion detector option will also work. I would be particularly cautious about making a prediction for Matter.
I can only advise anyone interested to wait and see and then read the reports from Homey users. Is the Bridge Pro for € 84 worth the investment for Homey users?
