Maybe it’s a idea to make the Nuki app (also) local? and not only cloud based. GitHub - pfreguia/nuki.homey: Your home has never been so smartly secured this app worked perfect! unfortunately i upgraded to HP23, and can’t use it anymore.. and now almost every few months there are problems with Nuki and Homey.
I also think that it is necessary to radically solve the problem, not only because of what is happening at the moment, but also because of the overwhelming frequency of the need to renew the token. We are talking about a house lock, not a toy. Having an app with official Nuki support must result in a stable and secure experience, otherwise please Nuki and Athom, take a step back and remove the app, because seeing my flows associated with the lock, failing continuously results in a really frustrating user experience.
I was planning to order the new Nuki Ultra this weekend and was looking around what users experience are here. I think I put it on hold or perhaps an other brand?
The user experience with Nuki via its native app is really good. So I can only suggest you make your purchase. If, on the other hand, you want to use your future lock through Homey integration, my opinion is unfortunately against it: forget it and investigate another product that is better integrated.
most problems is with older Nuki’s, with no Matter support. If you buy a new Nuki lock there is Matter inside, and there will probably no connection errors (?)
If this were the case, then Nuki would have to take responsibility for officially communicating to thousands of users that the changes in connection approach they have introduced have definitively made the previous versions of the lock with Homey Pro unstable and therefore unusable.
I have no idea if the “new” connection give problems for the older Nuki’s? But with Matter you have internal communication with Homey, so that kind of users don’t have any problems with there Nuki and Homey, i think? I have still some older Nuki’s (3.0) so I am dependent on the Bridge connection, and the cloud connection of Nuki.
With some cheap additional hardware you can create a 100% local hub: GitHub - technyon/nuki_hub: Use an ESP32 as a Hub between a NUKI Lock and your smarthome.
yeah, but it’s ofcourse ridiculous that i need extra hardware to make a local connection with my Nuki, while I already have a local connection with the Nuki via the Bridge. With the HP19 the “Nuki Direct App” worked fine, it’s i think not that hard to make it compatible with the HP23.
I’ll discuss with the team and Nuki on Monday to explore whether we can adopt a similar setup to what we have with Philips Hue, where Homey Pro communicates locally via the Nuki Bridge or MQTT API, and the cloud API is used only for Homey Cloud users.
What does did mean for the new Nuki Ultra? I want to buy this for my Homey 2023 but must know if it works ok.
Problem is solved by Nuki. You can reconnect.
You can simply connect the Nuki Ultra via Matter over Thread with Homey Pro, this works fully locally without relying on the cloud. That’s how I’ve setup mine as well.
What was the problem / the fix?
Suddenly all 6 of my Nuki locks and Opener went offline. I tried to repair but i have an error message :
I know that i use the correct login. I’am also sure that Nuki web is working as i can access it via a web browser. I tried restart the Nuki Homey app and restart The Homey Pro 2023 with no luck. I also deleted one of the locks and tried to install it again, that gives me an error also :
What can i do?
Works again. Thx for your support!
I can also conform that the Nuki Ultra is still working with the matter implementation.
Anyone here with nuki problems? Version with bridge. My Nuki is offline again in Homey
