Homey Pro 2026

Hello the problem with the HomeKit gateway is solved, in fact the HOMEY 2026 box was too far from the HomeKit hub and after updating Apple 26.2 on all Apple devices. everything works well I am reassured. Sincerely Patrick

How can I migrate the homey pro 2016 to the homey pro 2026?

I have made a backup from the 2016 version (in the cloud) but this backup I can’t see in the 2026 homey?

does anybody knows how to do this?

When you first set up your new Homey Pro, you get a question whether you want to restore a (cloud) backup. Then you can select the back-up you want to restore.

If you missed that question, then you can factory reset your new Homey (depress the button in the pinhole at the bottom for 30 secs) and perform the setup again. For more info on factory reset, refer to this knowledge article: Resetting Homey Pro to factory defaults.

My Homey Pro 2023 to Pro 2026 experiences:

  • during 2026 setup did a 2023 backup restore
  • auto firmware upgrade on 2026
  • all ~50 apps visible on 2026 but only ~10 installed after 10 minutes without any progress
  • restart 2026
  • no firmware upgrade needed and all ~50 apps installed themselves in ~5 minutes (fast internet)
  • all Zigbee devices, Aqara included, available
  • Z-Wave divices not visible in Homey Developer tools
  • second time (same) backup 2023 restore on 2026, and Z-Wave were all there.

I had 1.9 GB of the 2 GB internal memory in use on 2023. After completion of the 2026 installation 2.3 GB of the 4 GB internal memory in use on 2026 (no extra apps installed).

@Amersfoort: Are you able to add new Zigbee devices or repair existing ones (via the maintenance function in the device’s settings)?

I tried a new Philips Hue bulb. Homey recognized the bulb as an unknown Zigbee device. After switching the bulb on and off and dimming, the connection dropped. Repairing the device in Homey helped briefly, but only a few seconds. The Homey app Hue without bridge doesn’t see the bulb. I have several Hue lamps working with HP26 at the moment (after restore backup from HP23).

Several subsequent attempts failed to connect at all. So the answer is: no, I cannot connect a new Zigbee bulb to the HP26.

So basically the same issue as here (again, after a restore of a back-up):

To be sure: after HP23 backup restore on my HP26 all Zigbee devices work for me as expected. Only adding a new Zigbee device is not possible at the moment.

I migrated from HP23 to HP26 via restoring a HP23-backup to HP26.

It looks that some of the functions and flows work, but:

  • Half of the Zigbee devices do not function; a matter of time?
  • my 2 bridges are not connected (red ring)
  • the Dongle is not connected (red led)
  • 2 MQTT connections are still failing
  • ZWAVE is not back yet

Any hints?

Thx!

These need to be re-paired…
just Reset the Dongle and add it again.
you probably can add the bridges also if they can’t find the old Homey Pro

This is difficult, what Brand and Type devices are it? Looks like there are some brands that have an issue, and there is not yet a solution that I know except reset the Zigbee network.

for what I have seen Z-Wave is often juts a matter of time, sometimes it helps to powercycle one or two Z-Wave repeaters.

Check is Zwave devices are throwing an error like “id not found” or if Zwave device list is empty in developer view.

In this case, reset the HP26 again and restore the Backup a 2nd time. It’s a know issue that Zwave devices are not restored if the HP26 is installing new firmware during restore.

Thx!

I swapped back to the HP23 again due to time ( interestingly that then everything functions).

Not having functional bridges might also not help.

I will have to try another moment.

Will I loose energy history data when I repair?

When I looked at this, the Zwave list was empty. Will try the 2nd time restore.

I’m trying to install the backup for the 2nd time, but can’t get HP26 connected to USB Tool. After starting the tool and selecting Homey Pro, I insert the pin, connect the USB, and then nothing happens. So no Orange (or any color) ring after connecting USB-C. Also restarted my laptop and tried it again. Any experience with this?

Usually either a cable or a Windows issue.

Did you try another cable? Many USB-C cables only have power and no data wires inside

After restoring the backup, can you add new Zigbee devices and repair existing ones? If not, you might be experiencing the same issue as discussed in this topic: Zigbee issue with Homey Pro 2026.

I needed to install the Windows driver for the USB tool to find my Homey. If I recall correctly there is a link to the driver on the USB tool’s page.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

No ORANGE ring:

I used the new cable which came along with HP26. This was my 2nd restore (back-up on MAC-air) so it did function before. I found the solution of having no Orange ring in turning the USB-C connector… :upside_down_face: and was able to reproduce this by turning the connector again. I also used the cable of HP23 and there I have the same problem. With connecting the HP 23 I don’t see the problem at all, so always orange ring. So it seems not to be the cable, but the wiring connection inside the HP26.. This is something to address to Athom.

Setting up HP26:

ZWAVE: After being able to restore the backup for the 2nd time, I noticed in the Homey Developers tool a list with ZWAVE devices. Some I was able to ping and functional. Not all of them yet, but that requires also the bridges and some time to rebuild it I guess.

ZIGBEE: All devices where listed but all field where blank. After succesfully pinging the router devices nearest to HP26. I see activity. Have not been able to check all decives.

I’m running out of time again so I went back to HP23.

On HP26 I still have to reinstall the bridges and the dongle; forgot how to do that. And I did’t do that yet since once I do that i can not fall back back on the HP23 anymore ( at least not quickly as i can now)

That’s very doubtful. I suspect either the cable (the cables that come with Homey’s are known to be of questionable quality) or your computer not being able to provide enough current.
