Homey keeps going offline since 3 update days ago

Both my homeys pro 2023 very frequently go offline. Something that has not happened before.

One uses the ethernet connection, the other wifi.

Is it me, or are more people experiencing this?

Thank you all!

To add to the description: It is only the wifi that’s offline. The other protocols and transmitters are still working fine. When I check it, the wifi itself is working normally.

It seems to reconnect after a while, but it is disturbing normal operation, as it cannot manage wifi connected devices during the time it is disconnected.

Could it be that homey does not attempt to reconnect to wifi very frequently, when it has lost connection?

If it’s the Homey app, or the web app, that is saying your Homey is offline, it’s most likely just lying.

This issue has existed for many years, there’s just something broken in the way the apps determine if your Homey is accessible or not. When it’s not (due to this bug), the app states that your Homey is offline, instead of saying that it cannot reach your Homey, which are two different things.

Some possible fixes include going back to pre-2010 WiFi settings: 2.4Ghz only, no mesh, no band steering, no nothing. Also make sure that both your Homey’s have fixed IP addresses, both on WiFi and on Ethernet.

Thanks. It is a notification from the homey app + I cannot access Homey via the app or the browser.

I have some devices that are managed via matter over ethernet and these are also not responding.

It looks like there is no wifi connection during the reported lack of connectivity.

So you have devices connected over Ethernet that are not responding, and devices that are connected over WiFi that are not responding? That sounds like a local networking issue then.

I have Homeys in different physical locations and currently. The networks are completely separated as well. I must say that the one giving most trouble is brand new. So it could be something with that particular one. I’ll keep an eye on it and will contact Homey support if the issue persists.

In any case, it looks like there are not more users with the same issues.

After the upgrade to 12.10.0 my Homey Pro got into constant reboots for one day, pulsing red ring and now it is offline. It is not answering on ping on its LAN connection and the app shows offline. Not sure how to proceed on this one.

Have the same problem

Have you checked the sub net IP of each unit?

Not yet, will have a look.

I have the same issue!

1 homey pro 23. Multiple times per day red ring, offline. It’s connected with utp. No Internet problems AFAIK. I don’t get it! Do 10 sec power unplugging but goes offline after a while again. What is going on here? The reason I’m reacting here is because of the problem, looking if I’m the only one or not. Clearly not. Hmmzz please homey.. What’s going on?

Auto update was off.

Ran into these problems.

Updated. Still problems.

Then updated to current 12.10.0 still problems.

I have the same issue. Happens every other day or so. I pull the plug and it’s back to normal. Also seems to help those nasty matter connections.

I’m wondering if it’s related to the Apple use of the private relay. Which affects the web browser websocket error. On the browser if you right click on the reload icon you can force Apple to expose your ip address. As for the homey app not sure why since most the time especially after a power cycle homey app connects.

it would be nice if there was a way to tell homey to reboot on a schedule. Hey maybe there is.

Well, it’s your lucky day!

very cool. Thank you.

Same here with the red rings. Seems bonjour service and matter aren’t friends .

Same issue here. Since 12.10.0 continues crashes. I removed all apps that are not necessary for flows. Firmware update via usb tool, reset to factory settings and restore backup. Homey is max a few minutes working and then crashing. Sometimes the restart takes like 15min! I wish I could restore the previous version to test.

Just a thought: what if you disable (not uninstall) all apps on your Homey. Then one app at a time, enable it and wait a few minutes to check if Homey crashes or not. There might be an issue with a specific app.

Might be worth experimenting with. What happens to the flows that uses devices from that app like Hue and Aqara?

Also I was searching and found out (I hope) that if I’d restore a backup from like 12.9.1 that homey reverts to that version. Anyone experience with that?

Cloud backups don’t contain any firmware data, your Homey will always get the latest firmware installed when restoring one.
