And maybe the old time favorite crash cause….usb power adapter?
Could be, however it is the homey pro ethernet adapter.
Even when the backup is from a previous version?
That adapter still has a usb C right? Try another adapter just to rule out a failing power adapter.
“Cloud backups don’t contain any firmware data”.
It just stores your user data and which apps were installed. When restoring, the latest versions of the firmware and the apps get installed. No way to go back to previous versions with cloud backups.
Yes true, tried it, wasn’t that still crashes. But: I think I found the evil doer. The app Home Wizard seems to cause it. I disabled that one and homey is now running for an hour. Before that max a few minutes. Fingers crossed
Thanks makes sense
Those will stop running or don’t complete.
It is app related. In my case HomeWizard, but also read that someone had it on app youless. When disabled homey is stable, when enabled it crashes within minutes. Joint factor here is as far as I can see the update to 12.10.0. I hope Athom will fix this asap
Good that you were able to track down the issue. Did you report it to Support | Homey?
Yes this ticket is running for some days and is updated. Also informed the owner of the HomeWizard app.
It seems like it is a combination of Homey Energy and some apps for checking electrical power or PV-information. I’ve tested installing self hosted server, default everything, adding SMA Energy app. All is looking good until you add either the inverter or the power meter and then go to the energy tab. The SHS chrashes, not only the app. Same goes for the Homey Pro, it fails in the same way. @Ruud_Geelen Do you have a support ticket already going on with Athom?
Something must have changed in the way Athom is handling the energy information in 12.10.0.
This.
I managed to stabalize my Homey by disabling all apps and then enable them one by one. Everything runs fine until I enable the Ferroamp app that manages my PV and homebattery system, then it crashes almost immediately.
But I also have problems with Insight data. If I try to view a graph for any device it just says “No data“ and the Homey crashes.
All this started exactly the night my Homey upgraded to 12.10.0.
Yes, but no updates received from Athom since 24-12 even though I updated the case. Keep you posted!
The issue is passed to development. They will investigate. Fingers crossed but will take some time I guess.
I still have problems too. Im rebooting the HP23 every hour to keeps things running…
lots of things dont work / crash.. It was working great for ever since latest updates
Did you try to go through all the apps one by one and deactivate them to find out if the restarted are caused by the apps?
Case update: (and I am NOT happy) Athom blames Home Wizard, says I need to contact the developer of the app (done that, explained Athom all steps we have taken). So far no results in this case…. If they close the case I will open another.
Interesting stand from Athom when taking the below in to consideration:
- The problem started after the Homey firmware update
- Users experience Homey crash, not app crash
- Issues occur with more than one app, in this case we know at least Home Wizard and SMA Energy
- Issue can be replicated and triggered by going into Homey Energy, very likely when trying to get data from underlying apps
The crashes did not happen before the firmware upgrade and at least SMA Energy app has not been upgraded since the firmware upgrade. The only thing that has changed is the Homey firmware, nothing else, which clearly points toward an issue in the firmware.
@Ruud_Geelen Do you need any more information from me in this case that could help?
Anything can help me, but I am working against an unwilling support engineer now. I am considering opening a new case. But please send all you know. Thanks!
