Homey (Cloud) - Rate Limited - Philips Hue Lights

Hi guys,
Just became a Homey user and Homey pro should arrive today, I just installed the app yesterday to test and added 2 bulbs from philips hue via its bridge, and Allready today it has a rate limit and a warning sign on each bulb, can someone explain why this is?

Homey Cloud is subject to Hue rate limiting. Homey Pro won’t be since it communicates with the Hue bridge directly.

I have problems with philips hue since yesterday! Exactly this problem too. I don’t know what to do about it.

I have the same problem since yesterday, uninstall and reinstall of the HUE app does NOT fix the problem. So it seems to be a more generic problem with the Homey Cloud. I logged a support case yesterday, but here is 1-2 week response time currently. It has worked flawlessly for since day one until yestarday.

Same problem here. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the Philips Hue app. Now I can’t even add the lights to Homey Cloud again. I wonder if I will experience that Homey cloud and my Bridge will work fladlessly for a whole week at some point in the future. Hopefully support will be faster now that the new owners LG comes.

Hello eveyone,

I have working with the Homey Cloud solution and have my whole house with Philips Hue Bulbs. Since yesterday I get the notification of ratelimits and all my bulbs are offline.

Something I can do about?

I have exactly the same problem.
What is wrong here.
I cannot even make a diagnostic report.

I think that Athom have a backend problem, i manage to trip the system yesterday, to tell me that there was a MongoDB error, MongoDB is apparently the backend database they use for Homey.

I can also confirm this problem since yesterday, Jan 14th.

In my setup there should not be many calls that could trigger the Rate Limit, I have some bulbs that I turn on at sunset and turn off at sunrise.

I’m using a Homey Cloud setup.

You’re sharing the rate with all other Homey Cloud users.

Same problem here, since yesterday with homey cloud. I assumed that an homey error flooded hue api which is causing rate limit error. Normally hue api stops the api binding to your app when it encounters 20 api calls per second, and then reset the error after 24hours.
Unfortunately, its more then 24 hrs now and still error.

Not on the hue api, that is on the bind with your account. but on homey cloud i guess that is indeed shared. So maybe aws is limiting……

The Hue app uses a single “client ID” for all Homey Cloud users, and the Hue API rate-limits on that ID.
