Gardena water control cannot be added

Goodmorning,

i’m running a homey self hosted server. And i have bought the gardena smart gateway and smart soil sensor wich are running fine and is connected to Homey.

Now i bought this smart water control from gardena so i can automate my irrigation: smart Water Control | GARDENA

I firstly added the smart water control to the gardena gateway and this has been detected and i can trigger it

however when i go and add it via the gardena homey app, this will not be detected.Gardena | Homey

The soil sensor is added via the same way, but this water control will not.

What i did so far;

Rebooted homey

Rebooted the nas

Removed the gardena app, and rebooted homey, add the app again.

Reset the water control and rebound it to the gardena smart gateway.

Does anyone have any advise to solve this issue?

Welcome Randy!

Maybe the smart water controller has a different internal identifier than older controllers, which the Homey Gardena app doesn’t yet support. So it’s possible that the Homey Gardena app needs to be updated.
That’s why I would recommend contacting Athom support, since Athom is the developer of the app. → Support | Homey

But that’s just an assumption.

Thanks i susspect the same, as the icon in homey is showing the old water control and not the new water control. I have raised an ticket and post the outcome here

The icon doesn’t necessarily mean that a newer device isn’t supported. Some apps use a single icon for different versions.
In any case, I’m curious to hear Athom’s response.

You where correct, i have requested that they support this model. As the old water control has been discontinued

At the moment, the latest Gardena Smart Water Control (and the Dual Water Control) aren’t yet supported by the Homey Gardena app, which is why it doesn’t appear in Homey.

I have the same issue and was greatful that you took the time to make a ticket!

I’ll follow this thread.

Would you be so kind to post any progress on this ticket in this thread?

I needed to add a feature request via de homey page so they can look at it. Maybe you can raise feature request to get this more priority

I just added a support/feature request and asked for a roadmap/expectation.

As soon as I hear back from Homey, I’ll update it here too

same here, waiting for the smart Dual Water Control to be supported in the official Gardena app.

In the meantime I use a work-around with Homekitty…

Hi

What is your workaround? Never know if it will take weeks or months before support for the new duo controller is added.

I can’t get my Smart Dual Water Control to work either, but I’ve added a request: Gardena | Homey - please chime in there so we can hopefully get some attention to the issue!

The Dual Water can be controlled with HomeKit (Apple). So I made a Virtual Button in Homey that triggers a flow in HomeKit using Homekitty

You mention a Homekitty workaround for the Smart Dual Water Control.
Could you explain how you connected the Dual Water Control to Apple Home and whether you’re using a Gardena Smart Gateway?

Did anyone hear back from Athom on a timeline for this being added?

First add the Dual Water Control to Apple HomeKit

Then you make 2 virtual buttons in Homey with “virtuele apparaten”.

Using the app Homekitty in Homey, you export these 2 buttons to Homekit (switch them to ON in the settings of Homekitty)

In Homey, you make triggers/flows to activate the 2 virtual buttons, in Homekit, you make a flow that let the virtual buttons trigger the GDWC

I didn’t receive any feedback on this, but it seems like a lot more people experience this issue

When I look at the changelog it looks like it’s been added:

2.5.1

23 Jun 2026

test

Fixed invalid ID for smart dual water control

2.5.0

16 Jun 2026

Added support for new water Control (2026) and Dual Water Control

But my app version is stuck at 2.4.1. When I install the app through: Gardena | Homey I get the latest version, and I see the new smart water control icons. But I can’t add any device, even my sensor now fails: `Cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘value’)`

Edit

Seems like a cross-origin issue: Unsafe attempt to load URL https://x from frame with URL https://x. Domains, protocols and ports must match.

It is stuck on 2.4.1 on my homey aswell

You can try installing 2.5.1 using the app url ending with /test. But adding Gardena devices in the latest version doesn’t work for me unfortunately.
