Is it possible to connect gardena smart water control without gateway to homey pro?

Well, have a gardena smart water control. Do I (really!?) need a gardena gateway as well? Or, is there any work-arounds?

Requires the gateway (not explicitly mentioned in the README, but see this issue).

This also looks like it requires a gateway (it communicates with the Gardena cloud services, and I assume that Gardena devices require a gateway to be able to communicate with the cloud themselves).

Ah that’s too bad, I puzzles me why such crucial details are hidden or not mentioned at all…

I think it’s assumed knowledge.

Can it be connected with other hubs or only Gardena gateway is compatible ? I have a sonoff brings and wanted to integrate it.
