Fully kiosk

Are u using fully kiosk also ?

Hello Peter,

i tried al you wrote but are struggling with the connection between homey device in dashboard controller and the samsung galaxy tab i bought recently.
After testing (works fine) the connection failed after a short time. I’am not famillair with android and can not find any setting to keep the connection alive. Do you have ideas, advice to solve this?

kind regards,
Henk van Barneveld

Hello Henk,

I occasionally encounter connectivity issues as well.
Make sure the IP address of the tablet is reserved (fixed).
Make sure Fully browser is running all the time.
Enable Fully settings, like, Other Settings >

  • Restart after crash
  • Restart after update

And what just popped up: maybe adding a Net Scan check will help keeping the connection alive.
I just installed one myself - use the “TCP port” device

Enter portnr. 2323 and your tablet’s IP address

Hello! With the new Kiosk mode function inside Homey app the need for Fully Kiosk browser is no longer necesserry I assume?

I want my tablet-screen turned off when no-one is around and then of course turned on when external motion sensor detects movement.
However I have the problem on my Lenovo M10 tablet, that even if Kiosk mode is activiated, the tablet requires PIN-code when screen comes active again? Cant find any setting in the Android settings to disable that?

Use Fully Browser and the Dashboard Controller app for this.
It even might be possible to use only Fully and the tablet’s front cam, for motion driven screen activation.

Homey Kiosk mode only locks a dasboard view. It’s not interacting with your hardware.

Go to Settings (drag top bar down and tap the cogwheel)
Tap “Lock screen”
At “Screen lock type”, select None

Thank you Peter for quick and helpful reply! This indeed made my dashboard experience much better! =)

I think it would be nice to have a couple of different Dashboards for the tablet to show depending of time and/or presence. But Im not sure how to get the tablet to present specific Dashboard? For example, if the time is between 06.00-10.00 then present “Morning Dash”
Any ideas?

Nice usecase, but Fully can’t push app buttons.
When dashboards can be called per URL one day, it’s possible to call specific dashboard “pages” though.

Is there a time estimate on this? Thank you

Hi @JnJ_Stanley

It is already there

Is this on Android? Because, I don’t see this option on iOS/iPadOS.

OK that’s why @JnJ_Stanley asked that question. This is on Android.

Hey Rogier,
are you using a beta of the Homey app an Android? Because i dont have this Option.

And another Question i have: How is it possible for you, with this option, to turn on the display of the device, or is it always on?

Hi @El_Capitan

Dashboard is not in beta anymore. I use a Android tablet. You probable an IPad

The tablet does not stay ON. After I have mounted on my wall I will probable use the app Macrodroid in combination with a motion sensor. I all ready tested that and for now that works. Maybe I will change to a different solution.

Rogier

Hey Rogier,

I use a Samsung A9 tablet, so it’s an Android device, but it might be running an older version of Android than yours. Is MacroDroid free? And can you use the tablet’s camera as a motion sensor, or do you have a third-party sensor via Zigbee (or something similar)?

I use the same tablet. Can you update to latest app version via Google play app?

Macrodroid is free for I belief 7 days. But it is cheap. Don’t no exacly how much.

I had to use a Philips Hue motion sensor. I have no knowledge about using the camera of the tablet.

You can also use Tasker instead of Macrodroid. 3.49€ for the app.

There is a howto for Tasker integration for Dashboards.

And a second howto for charging.

I don’t see Kiosk Mode neither when pressing any dashboard on my iPhone.
My goal is to manage my partner dashboard when I update elements without having to get his phone in hand.

It was added recently, at least to the test version of the iOS/iPadOS mobile app. Based on the change log, it should also be included in the latest live version: v9.0.4. I am currently using version 9.1.0.1665:
