Battery Status & Type - Hue Dimmer Switch

Hi i am very new, so my apolagies if this might be obivius for some.

But i just got my Homey Pro and i am in de middle of converting all my Philips Hue stuff to Homey. But for some reason the battery Status & Type isn`t showing after i directly connected it to Homey?

Does any one know how to fix this? Or does it just takes time?

PS: It`s connected via Zigbee

I don’t have personal experience with Hue devices, but sometimes the battery status takes some time to update. At least that is my experience with Aqara sensors.

You might also want to check the dedicated topic for the Hue (without a bridge) app for more info (if any): [APP][Pro] Philips Hue Zigbee (Without the bridge).

Just another thought: I assume your Hue Bridge and Homey Pro are both on. They don’t use the same Zigbee channel, right? As that might cause communication issues.

They are both on indeed, because i will be slowly porting everything (or almost everything) over to Homey so can make sure everything works step by step. As Hue has some functions that are hard to recreate in Homey (like Dynamic Scenes).

I can see that the hue bridge is on Channel 11, but i dont know where to find it on Homey.

PS: I removed the switch from Hue, before importing it to Homey.

You can find al kinds of technical info of your Homey Pro in the Homey Developer Tools portal.

You’ll find the Zigbee channel that your Homey Pro uses in the Zigbee section:

Normally your Homey Pro tries to find an unoccupied channel (or with the least interference) during the initial setup.

If you have a Homey Pro 2023 or newer, then you can only change the Zigbee channel by performing a Zigbee reset. After that you need to repair all connected Zigbee devices (via the Try to repair option in the Maintenance section of each device tile).

Next to avoiding overlap with other Zigbee hubs (like the Hue hub), it is also wise to avoid overlap with your WiFi 2.4 Ghz network (if any). Check this article on how WiFi might overlap with Zigbee: ZigBee and Wi-Fi Coexistence.

Should you have overlap with your WiFi, than changing the WiFi channel might be easier than changing the Zigbee channel on your Homey (due to the repair actions).

So there not on the same Zigbee Channels (11 for Hue, 25 for Homey). De Wifi is also fine as i running everything else in the home on 5ghz and not 2.4ghz.

Sadly the battery status and type still isn`t showing.

I will wait a day and see if anythin changes, if not i will try and try to relearn the switch within Homey to see if that helps.

Should that not work, then you might want to check other user experiences in the earlier mentioned dedicated topic for the Hue (without a bridge) app, and/or contact the developer (it might be an issue with the app, though Homey does show a battery capability, so it is recognized as such).

Why do you want to migrate devices from your Hue bridge? You can add the Hue devices via the Hue bridge to Homey as well and keep all features from the Hue app. I have all my lights and dimmers from Hue connected to the Hue bridge and it’s way easier to set up the dimmer control/dynamic scenes in the Hue app compared to Flows. You can then use Homey for the other (more advanced) Flows.

I was testing it out because it seems that you have way more button options via the direct connection (short press. Long press etc.) of Homey. And these are not available when you connect through the hue Bridge for some reason and I would like to use the long press for specific functions.

Also I want to control them via presence sensors (and not only motion). And so far, hue doesn’t have an option for that.

But when I tried to reverse this, so unlearned the Switch via Homey, relearned it in the hue Bridge and then imported it back again in the homey app through the hue bridge, the battery status and type still didn’t work.

But I will try this again somewhere the coming days. I will update when I have more information.

When you’ve configured wifi5 or wifi6, the 2.4GHz radio usually is still active on the same SSID. That’s cool if zigbee is running fine, but keep it in mind. If possible, try to assign a channel anyways.

! closeby neighbour’s 2.4GHz wifi signal also can interfere with your zigbee.

thx, i will check this.

But this still doesn`t explain the battery status not showing up.

My post is not related to a battery status supplied via the Hue bridge (it uses (W)LAN or Matter), Bas.
It’s about finetuning zigbee.

I just reconnected the Dimmer Switch via de Hue Bridge itself. Now its showing the battery type, but not the battery status. But this might take some time. I will keep this post updated.

I can report that through the Hue Bridge the battery status is now working

Sadly I lose the “without Bridge’ functions so I will be looking to maybe replace them with the Innr Remote Control. As it seems to have the same functions.

Thank you all for the support and feedback!
