Aqara Thermostat W400

Hi There - I live in a part of the world, where the usual nests and ecobees, dont function without intervention. I instead got the new Aqara W400. While it works fine natively. I cant seem to find a single way to pair it with homey.

The device says it has zigbee protocol - but it only pairs with the aqara hub via wifi. And no otherway. If it paird via zigbee - it would automatically pair with Homey via my hub3.

Anyone here can help me find a solution?!! Its the last piece of my puzzle :stuck_out_tongue:

The Aqara hub should be added to Homey using Matter.
When successful, the devices connected to the hub should become available in Homey.
If the device type / functionality is supported by Homey Matter that is, which currently is:

Thank you. And the devices connected to my M3 hub are indeed showing up on Homey via matter. The issue is, the W400 devices are connected via wifi to the hub, like the FP2 sensor. And those devices are just not getting recognized as “child devices” on the M3 hub - to continue and show up on Homey.

FP2 has a work around through the homekitapp. But W400 - no such luck! Thats why I ask.

Ah, I see! Man, Aqara makes it all so complicated.

Now you mention wifi: only certain Aqara zigbee devices are getting published as Matter devices per (certain) Aqara hubs.

For Aqara wifi devices you can ask for support by Martin Verbeek’s Homekit Controller app.
(No need for apple stuff, that app presents Homey as Homekit device).
You can request it here:

The W400 needs to talk Homekit over WiFi to be supported by the Homekit Controller.
Or the hub/bridge it is attached to, in that case it will need to be switched from Matter (assumption!) to Homekit.

Ahh. I get it. I have a spare M2 hub I could try this with. As my M3 is working over matter to bring in my other devices from aqara.

BUT. The aqara app is seeing the W400s as “secondary devices” - almost hub like status.. Making it difficult for another hub to control it.

Let me quickly try and see if the Hub 2 can pair via homekit to my Homey.. AND bring the W400 along with it.

Thanks.

Thanks for the :high_voltage: fast reponse, Martin!

Sad to report. It didn’t quite work. I think the W400 operates independently.. And the other sad part is. W400 doesn’t have a homekit code.

Thanks for the support though.

On the aqara website the two examples are with M3 and G5 Camera Hub as hubs. So far for seamless integration

I have fiddled around with this for almost 6 months now.. On and off.. Trying to figure ways out.. To get it on to homey. Have had a few dozen mail exchanges with aqara. They just dont seem to understand my request.. Or they are pretending not to.

The device and aqara app work “seamlessly” for sure. But cross integration.. Remains a challenge. :frowning:

Will have a peek around

Nothing out there, apart from HA having a customer device through a Hub. Only way to do it, as i see it, a second M3 with the W400’s on HomeKit

Thanks Martin. I may consider reconnecting my existing M3 through homekit in the weekend to attempt this. Will update once I gather the courage - to reconnect everything else that comes with that change.

Let me know when you run into issues, happy to help.
