Adding an Aqara product to Homey Pro via an Aqara hub: what to do?

Can someone help me connect an Aqara product to my Homey Pro after installing it in the Aqara app?

I have an Aqara hub, which I’ve already installed on my Homey Pro. Now I can see everything on that Aqara hub on my Homey Pro (I installed the Aqara hub via matter code).

But now I have a problem and a question. I’ve installed a new product on my Aqara hub and now I want to get it onto my Homey Pro (to use it). However, the product just won’t show up on Homey Pro. When I reinstall the hub on Homey Pro, I get a message that the hub is already installed.

How do I get my last Aqara product, which I installed on my Aqara hub via the Aqara app, onto my Homey Pro? I can’t seem to get it to work :frowning:

Every time I add a temp sensor to the HUB it appears automatically in Homey but with the general sensor name (ie Aqara Temp/humidity sensor) and the same location as the Hub. I also tried this with my pushbuttons but somehow they don’t appear in Homey.

I think you don’t need the aqara hub.

Just try to connect the devices directly with your homey pro.

Yes we know. But it saves a lot of Zigbee traffic to connect them to the Hub and the hub is connected to Homey via Matter

AFAIK Aqara hubs use Matter-over-Thread. Thread and zigbee share the same chip @ Homey.
I don’t think it reduces any traffic.
However, I can imagine Aqara zigbee devices perform more stable with an Aqara hub zigbee controller.

I presume the Aqara hub uses Matter over WiFi to talk to Homey.

I’m no expert, Robert, but what Aqara states makes me presume it uses Matter-over-Thread?
Or do I mix things up?
(just trying to understand what Aqara is saying)

The hub acts as a go-between between the Thread and Zigbee devices that are paired with it, and Matter controllers like Homey. But that communication is done using Matter over WiFi (or Ethernet), since Thread is a bandwidth-limited protocol and therefore unsuitable to transfer the data of potentially dozens or hundreds of devices over.

Thanks. Makes sense.

Go to the app settings and restart app, that should then pull through the new device.

Which app are you talking about? I assume it’s the Aqara app within Homey Pro?
I have done it but it is not working :frowning:

Yes, the Aqara app. I had a similar issue with a device last week. I think I did the app restart and possibly a reboot of the Aqara hub, I have the M3, and the device appeared. Hope it works for you.

It is not working for me :frowning:

I have an M3. I installed it through Matter. From now on, all devices I install via ZigBee in the Aqara app immediately appear in Homey without any installation. Devices I installed in the Aqara app through Matter must be installed in Homey as new Matter devices by entering the Matter device pairing code provided in the Aqara app for the device in the general settings.
