Aqara Door Window Sensor P2 - Matter version

You don’t want to use Homey as an alarm system either.

Why is Homey Pro not good to use as an alarm system? I was thinking to use Heimdal but just started with the Homey Pro to connect all my domotica islands so eager to learn!

Because it isn’t one. It’s only a best-effort device. It may work fine, but it also may decide not to work anymore for whatever reason (like it did with your Aqara sensors).

I just bought two “Aqara P2 Door and Window Sensor”, and I can’t add them to my Homey Pro at all. But it seems like some of you have been able to so I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.

I put the Aqara P2 in close proximity to the Homey Pro, and to my phone (roughly 30-40 centimeters). The Aqara P2 led is pulsating blue, and I went through the homey pro add new device wizard and selected Matter as the protocol to use but it gets stuck searching for a device.

Tried rebooting my Homey pro, and my phone, tried reseting the P2 by tapping the button 10 times to perform a factory reset, tried removing the battery from the P2 and reinserting it, but it still doesn’t work.

Any ideas?

Edit: Never mind, It is working now. Turns out the matter capability of the Homey Pro stopped working completely so I couldn’t use any matter device connected to it for a while. I had to go into the homey settings and restart each app where at least one matter device was added. In my case it was Philips Hue and Eve. After that it all started working again and the Aqara P2 sensors could then be added successfully.

One of my P2 sensors lost connection to Homey– I think it might have run out of battery. However, after installing a new battery, it immediately enters pairing mode. If I try to repair the device, Homey tells me “Different Device Added - Repairing a device can only be done with the same product as the original device (Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2)”. Uhhh, what? Does anyone have any clue how to proceed?

By the way, Z-Wave door/windows sensors from Fibaro work great with my Homey Pro 2019. Also I have voice messages directly from Homey Pro 2019, because it has a speaker. Heimdall app works great. After reading this post, my fomo on Homey Pro 2023 is greatly reduced
