That is the thing couldn’t do anything in the old Shelly app. So decided to delete and fully reinstall this worked so I’m happy. Not sure since when this app came on status legacy? And whether this has something to do with it?
The last update marked it as legacy (it’s literally in the release notes), and that has nothing to do with the issue you had.
Sorry to hear you removed it first, as that also forces you to update all your flows. Just restarting Homey and triggering the install from the store would have been enough, it has always solved this “not installed” issue for me.
Should this action have resulted in broken flows, then you might want to check out the Flow Converter app to fix them.
As @bert69 indicated: the change in the app related only to renaming it. As far as I know there were no other changes, like e.g. dropping support for devices.
In the future the original Shelly app will be targeted at Gen1 devices; the new Shelly Control app will focus on Gen2+ devices. As far as I understand from the developer of the app, the current functionality of the original Shelly app will remain as it. This means that you could continue to use the original app for all your current Shelly devices.
However, I did notice myself that the latest Shelly firmware series (v2.0.0+) does not play well with the original Shelly app. So if you have newer Shelly devices that are or will be updated to the v2 firmware, then it is recommended to migrate those Shelly devices to the new Shelly Control app.
Is good to know for next time. Luckily it is just two devices and I know in which flows they are so it will be 30min job to fix it
Any one has experience with their WiFi light bulbs? They work good?
Hi @WeWillSee ,
I have +/- 40 shelly devices at home.
The Bulb’s were my first ones to test, and I still have them working at many years.
Shelly DUO, model - SHBDUO-1
Did you try the new Shelly Control app for Homey to connect your Shelly device to (instead of the original Shelly app)?
I have found the new shelly control. It works.
But how can I change quickly all the devices with the new app? And all the flows?
You’ll need to manually remove the devices and pair them with the Shelly Control app.
Before you remove the device, take note of its ID in the Devices section of the Homey Developer Tools. After pairing the device with the Shelly Control app, lookup the new ID of the device.
You can use the Flow Converter app to fix the flows. It replaces the old with the new ID in your flows, restoring the related flowcards and tags.
You can check whether there are broken flows using the Flow Checker app.
Depending on the type of flowcards and device capabilities, you might need to correct some flows manually. But since in your case it regards standard temperature and humidity capabilities, I assume Flow Converter would be able to fix your flows automatically.
does the new shelly control app also regonice a add-on module on a shelly gen4 running on zigbee?
Maybe you should ask this question better in Shelly Control app topic?!
yea that happened to me. reinstall and restart of homey worked fine.
funny you mention that. i’ve been using homey for a couple of years now and have not ran into this known issue with apps failing to update. i do have a number of apps installed. just odd that it happened to this shelly app and someone else also had this issue.
