[APP] Shelly - Smart solutions for every home and office

With this app you can select the “Any WiFi device”, with the new app you can select the device type directly. The dimmer gen4 is listed there, the i4 isn’t.

So you cant use zigbee? I bought the gen 4 so i can use zigbee… i dont want to be dependend on wifi.

The WiFi connection mode generally offers the most control of and information (sensor read-outs) over your Shelly devices.

If you want to use the Zigbee connection mode, then either the Shelly (Control) app needs to support your specific device or you could try to add it as a generic Zigbee device. That offers basic control (like on/off), but I am not sure whether that also works for your devices.

So the best route would be to have your devices supported by one of the Shelly apps in Zigbee mode. There are two apps:

The second one is still in beta, but focusses specifically on recent gen devices and contains improvements compared to the original Shelly app. The first/original app will not receive functional enhancements anymore and will be focussing on Gen1 devices eventually.

So the new Shelly Control app would be the way to go. It also better supports the newer firmware that runs on the current Shelly devices (v2.0.0).

If your device is not supported in the mode you want, then you can reach out to the developer (Drenso), via the contact details included in the app’s app store page or in the first post of the dedicated topic for Shelly Control: [APP] Shelly Control - Smart home automation is that easy!.

My experience is that they respond quickly and can give you an indication on when support is added to the app.

The Shelly i4 Gen3 supports just Bluetooth and WiFi, that’s why I suggested to use “Any Shelly WiFi Device”.

If you definitely want to connect your Shelly Dimmer Gen4 via Zigbee, you’ll need to install the Homey Shelly Control app in addition to the Homey Shelly app. @SunBeech has already reported on this in detail.

Titel: Shelly BLU Door/Window ZB — alarm_contact stuck “active” after closing (paired via Bluetooth)

Bericht:

Hi,

I’m running into an issue with a Shelly BLU Door/Window ZB sensor on Homey Pro, paired directly via Bluetooth through the Shelly app.

Setup:

  • Device: Shelly BLU Door/Window ZB
  • Paired to Homey via Bluetooth (4x button press), recognized correctly as “Shelly BLU DoorWindow”
  • Signal is strong (rssi around -23), sensor is right next to Homey

Issue:
When I open the contact (magnet away from sensor), alarm_contact correctly turns active and my flow (trigger: alarm_contact turns true) fires as expected.

When I then close the contact again (magnet back), alarm_contact stays “active” — it never flips back to inactive. As a result, the next time I open the contact, no new trigger fires either, since the capability was already stuck on “true”.

What’s notable: other data from the same device (battery, tilt, rssi) does update correctly during this test, so BLE reception itself seems fine — the issue looks specific to how the alarm_contact state is parsed/updated on “closed” events.

I also want to flag a related point: before switching to Bluetooth, I first paired this same sensor via Zigbee. Homey recognized the correct manufacturer/product ID at the protocol level (Fabrikant: Shelly, Product ID: BLU DoorWindow ZB), but added it as a generic/unknown Zigbee device rather than matching it to the Shelly app’s driver — so no working capabilities came through that way at all. Not sure if that’s expected (no Zigbee driver support yet for this model) or a separate bug.

Is this a known issue, and is there a fix or workaround? Happy to provide more logs/details if useful.

Thanks!

Please report your issue in the app topic:

its a bummer i cant use this app anymore. the shelly control app appears to not have the shelly em gen1 listed nor the shelly button1.

No, you can keep using this app. And especially for gen1 devices, this app remains the main app. It’s all in the app description…

We will make sure that this app keeps working for existing installations, but we recommend you use the new Shelly Control app when adding new devices. Both apps can be run next to each other, but make sure to not add the same device with both apps. This app will remain the only official app for first gen Shelly devices. If you are missing any device in the new Shelly Control app, please let us know!

appears that its no longer installed for me when trying to restart. i wonder if this is expected. trying to install it out.

hopefully gen1 devices are supported in the new app. i am thinking about buying some more shelly devices. will be annoying 2 run 2 shelly apps.

installed the app again. didnt do much but after a restart my devices appear to be working again.

i was trying to figure out where you got that info from and eventually found it on the github link.

You mean the text that is quoted? It’s on the app store, in the app description

apologies. its been a long day for me. i didnt need this to stop working either as i know i have a lot of flows set up… thanks!

i was expecting it to be added to the first forum post/FAQs here as i usually go here for some help/assistance.

Hi, the app keeps crashing, a90871e8-7890-4903-84aa-641efe3903a5 diagnostic ticket

Maybe you could provide some more context.

Not much context to add… when restarting the app it crashes immediately.

Hi my Shelly plus 1pm devices stopped working on the old app since the new app is out.
And on the new app I can’t seem to install the devices anymore. How can I solve this?

What changed in your setup?

Did you perhaps update your Shelly modules to the new version 2.0.0 firmware?

No it just said app not installed I know reinstalled app and I could add devices again

Yeah, that is a known Homey issue. Sometimes it just messes up during update (happened to me with multiple apps, Shelly not yet): reboot and forced re-install (by clicking the install button in the app store) usually fixes it.
