I had the same error. I uninstalled everything. Installed the 1.4.0, added a camera and then afterwards I installed 1.5.4.
Worked very well. The 1.5.4 runs on 48,8 mb memory.
Hello, I’ve just started to use Unifi Protect and after some crashes I now have 154 experimental running on Homey Pro. When I want to set the recording status of a camera via a flow to ‘Record only motion’ nothing happens. Other recording modes work fine. I do notice in the camera view that ‘Opnamemodus’ is shown correctly for Always and Never, when I set ‘Detections’ on the Unifi controller the Homey app shows ‘-’ for 'Opnamemodus.
I have the same problem - I can no longer set the cameras to ‘Record only motion’ via a flow.
Not sure if I’m doing it correct or not but on the 1.5.4 I don’t get the on a “Smart Detection Event” to work.
After installing 1.5.4 I get the error “socket.on is not function” if I want to add a new camera.
With (1.5.4) but also earlier versions, I have issues with a false “Bewegingsalarm”.
If movement detection is over the alert stays on within the Homey. Camera’s with this issue are G3 Flex and G3 Instant. The G3 Bullet does not show this behaviour.
We’ve just installed our new Homey Pro and added the Unifi Protect app too (1.5.4).
We’ve taken all the steps in the first post of this thread, but we’re running into the “socket.on is not a function” message when we try to add our camera’s and doorbell. Are we missing something?
Many thanks in advance!
I have the same error message, not sure how to fix this.
Same error. I guess there is no workaround this yet.
Same error here too.
Does anyone now if there is a way to install the previous (better working version) of the app? This would help me, and I think others, a lot.
I was wondering about that too, but I haven’t found a way yet. But as I’m rather new to Homey, perhaps I’m overlooking the option?
Anyone that solved the problem With socket.on not a function?
I still have the issue and have not found a workaround. I’ll hope the developers will come with a solution soon.
CK2 Plus v2.3.14 (5TB Storage for Protect)
Network APP v7.0.20 (USG / Switches / AP)
Protect APP v1.21.0 (Camera’s / Doorbell)

First time user Athom Homey early 2018
Finally got it installed with an old Unifi UAP-AC-Lite
All latest (official) versions.
HUE, Sonos, Spotify, Chromecast and Samsung TV active.
When adding a device (wired or wireless)
Same message as above. “socket.on is not function” like: [APP][Pro] Ubiquiti UniFi Protect - #89 by Gupske
Is the new Network version to blame?
hope hearing from anyone soon…
I just saw a new version of the app is available (v1.5.6). It’s also installed on my Homey automaticly.
I have no socket.on message anymore and can add new camera’s without issues again.
Thanks to the developers for the fix.
I will test further to see if other issues are solved as well.
Yes, we managed to add our cameras and doorbell too now, without the socket.on message
we have successfully created a flow for our doorbell to play a sound on the Sonos Soundbar when ringed.
Thanks to the developers!
I have the UNVR from Ubiquiti, it doesn’t work. If I change the IP to the UDM-pro, I can login without an error. But I moved alle the camera’s to the UNVR and it seems this app doesn’t know how to connect yet?
Connecting to the UDM-pro won’t add my camera’s, as I tried already.
It get’s stock at “Getting CSRF token”.
Yes!!! With the new automatic update it all works…. Thanks…
In my system i only get Can not fetch snapshot image, please advice.
Hi Stèphan!
I’m sorry, but with 1.5.6 the memory leak is back! It’ takes about 1-2h from restart of the app 'til it stops.
For about 14 days ago I did as Stefan_S suggested in a post above;
"I had the same error. I uninstalled everything. Installed the 1.4.0, added a camera and then afterwards I installed 1.5.4.
Worked very well. The 1.5.4 runs on 48,8 mb memory."
And since then the app has been running fine on my Homey! - Until the autoupdate to 1.5.6…
I uninstalled 1.5.6, restarted Homey, installed 1.5.6 again. Setup the app. Added my cameras.
Despite this the app stops due to memory leak after 1-2h.
Please help!
