To be honest, I’m not very impressed so far. I set up a very simple motion and presence based flow to control a light, but even though I’m sitting about 3 meters directly in front of the sensor, it often reports “absence” and turns off the light.
It correctly turns the light on when I arrive and sit down, and it turns it off about 10 seconds after I leave, but it also turns it off at random times while I’m still sitting there, as if I’m “not present.” I tried recalibrating the sensor in the Meross Android app and adjusting the sensitivity settings, but with no success.
There are no obstacles in front of the sensor, no air conditioning or airflow that could interfere and confuse the sensor, and no TV or flashing screens, it is an ideal calm environment.
I need to do more testing, but currently not happy with it.
Is anyone else seeing duplicate “When motion alarm turned on/off for ___ seconds” cards? Could this be because the sensor has three zones (visible and configurable in the Meross Android app)? If so, how can we tell which card corresponds to which zone?
So, I’ve recreated the simple flow. My sensor only reacts about 6 seconds after I enter the room (a Hue sensor would have detected me already after 1 Second).
Then the light stays on for almost exactly 1 minute, regardless of whether I’m in the room or not… Currently unsatisfactory. I’ll take another look at the settings in the Android app. In the Homey app from Meross, I also see that motion alarms 2 and 3 aren’t triggering, no matter what I do…
Update :
I’ve been testing it for quite a while now. The sensor is slow to react, and I couldn’t completely fix that, even with the app. You can set the response time to 0 seconds, but then either the processing takes longer, or the sensor is simply slow. In any case, you have to spend time figuring out the correct alignment and the app settings.
I ordered the sensor because it’s supposed to detect a heartbeat as a trigger… I couldn’t find where to set that, either during testing or anywhere else. My conclusion: A Hue sensor would do the job just as well, but the price-performance ratio isn’t right at the moment. I have no idea why it’s so slow to react.
It can definitely detect a heartbeat. You just have to adjust the zone settings using the Meross app. Mine triggers the lights in about 2-3 seconds in a bathroom. Also keeps the lights on for the duration of presence.
My flow is nearly identical to the screenshot above.
My only issue is it is sometimes too sensitive and triggers the lights when someone is walking near the bathroom door. I’ll have to spend some more time testing to fix that.
You can create 3 Flows with all 3 cards, and then make them send a notification when triggered (e.g. “Card 1 triggered”, “Card 2 triggered”, …). This way, you know which card corresponds to which zone.
The detection is very granular, and it is extremely rare that all three sensors are not triggered at the same time, just at different levels. Configuring this would require a lot of trial and error in the Meross Android app with adjusting detection thresholds and trigger settings. And even if you get it right, good luck remembering which sensor is which card a few months later, unless the Homey app is listing the cards in the sensor 1-2-3 order(?).
What would actually be helpful is if the Homey app cards included the zone information. Something like “Zone 1 has been active…”, “Zone 2 has been active…”. That feels like a straightforward improvement for Athom to implement.
All presence sensors I’ve used which work on Thread are slow to respond, even standard PIR sensors on Thread are really slow compared to my Hue motion sensors over Zigbee
All powered Thread devices that I own (blubs, wall outlets and plugs) respond immediately.
End devices are slower.
Same here. Regardless of where I place it or which direction I approach from, motion alarms 2 and 3 do not trigger in Homey, even though they are enabled by default in the Meross Android app. The updating of light level (lux) is also heavily delayed.
Unfortunately, the Hue sensor does not have the radar component, which means that if you are sitting still with little movement, it will turn the lights off. The advantage of this sensor should be that it detects presence rather than just motion. But as that does not really work for me at this point it’s no better than any other plain “motion” sensor. And there are plenty of those that are quite cheaper than Hue.
If this is your only Matter over Thread device, the further away from Homey you put it, the slower the connection/reaction. I have a similar issue and I’ll have to get some Matter over Thread wall power points and spread them around the house to create a stronger mesh network (devices that are always plugged in act as routers/repeaters). On the other hand, I’ve got over a hundred Hue lights/sensors/switches around my house, so my Hue Zigbee mesh network is strong, everything reacts instantly and even the lights/sensors that are deep in the back yard work flawlessly.
Assuming you don’t live in a castle, bathroom is an “easy” scenario as it’s a small space. The problem (at least for me) are larger living areas, although I’ve dialed down the "distractions” in the room to the minimum (tv is off, shades on the windows so there’s no outside reflections/light/moving shadows etc.)
Yes, anything beyond 18ft or so can be problematic. Only workable solution I’ve found for my garage is 2 presence sensors (Lafaer) to get accurate detection. But with those I’ve experienced more connection issues compared to the Meross.
The Aqara FP300 connectivity has been flawless though. Just haven’t gotten a chance to do any deep dive testing with accuracy yet.
Got the Aqara FP300. Zero issues so far, and it’s much more compact with a less intrusive design. Easily mounted in the corner of the room and can be pointed in any direction, unlike MS605. Also done zero tweaking of the sensor distance/sensitivity settings, just works. The only downside is the price, $99 AUD compared to $49 for the MS605.
Hi! Does anyone get the meross msh450 working with smoke detektors MA151? I get them connected but it does not seems to be transmitting status. The generic alarm stays on all the time and it will not update. Battery status only shows ok, not percentage. I am hoping for more integration to Homey pro and possibility to use meross in flows.
I’ve been on the hunt for a nice fan/light switch, to no avail yet
The Kasa KS240 is really nice. But not supported in the Kasa Homey app. It will add to SmartThings, but for some reason doesn’t show up in the Homey SmartThings app.
The Treatlife/Tuya one looks interesting, but it was a pain to get installed. It actually shows up in Homey after a complete run-around, but the only cards available are when a bool/json/number/string code has changed, and a then set bool/json/number/string code. No mapping to light dim level or fan speed. So those are going back.
The Meross MFC100 adds to the Meross app fine, but neither of the Homey Meross apps support it dang it.
