Xiaomi Evaporative Humidifier

Hi,

I have a Xiaomi evaporative Humidifier 2. This device is on your “Best Buy Guide”, so I expected it to integrate “easy”. But as far as I understood the integration is not really good. It only has a community adapter, and the only way to get it connected is to install a software on a local computer and read out a token. Also it needs a static ip for it work. I’ve done both and got it connected, but the connection is anything but reliable. Most of the time it can’t be reached. Within the xiaomi app it is stable, so it is not the device itself, but the integration.

I’ve had it integrated into iobroker and as far as I remember the integration there worked without having to get a token manually, and it worked reliable, so there must be a way to integrate it different.
Any suggestions or tips?

This is a community forum. Perhaps people can help you out, but if you want this message to reach Athom you should (also) submit a support request: https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/360015784034-Submitting-a-support-request

oh thanks, good idea, will do if community can’t help.

The BBG is probably about devices Athom likes or preferences.

I don’t have the impression each and every device is tested, and reading about your install procedure experience, it should’ve been mentioned it can be “challenging”.

Do realize when a community app is involved, the developer didn’t have the intention to nag you, but just found a way to integrate the device with Homey, and the manufacturers often don’t share simple “connect” options.

No, most probably it’s Homey. It can’t handle devices with changing IP addresses very well.
Please reserve IP addresses for Homey and all devices you connect with it.
