Why is the Bridge not the closest Z Wave hub?

Hi there I have a Homey Pro 2023 located 2nd floor in my house. All Z wave devices on ground floor and 2nd floor can reach the Pro to create the Z wave network. We build a small office in our garden en it was too far from the Pro to connect the Z wave devices in the office. So I bought the Homey Bridge which I placed in the office and in the office I have WiFi and now it is connected. I van see in Developer Tools the Bridge is connected to the Z wave network via a Z Wave Shelly dimmer at the 2nd floor where the Pro is located. Why is the Bridge not having a straight connection to the Pro?

The developer tools don’t give the full picture, it may also be connected to the Pro. In any case, routing is based on various RF and link quality calculations.

Hello Chris,

When you assume the Pro’s z-wave network gets bridged over wifi to the Homey Bridge, you’re wrong.
That kind of functionality is only avaliable for 433MHz/Bluetooth/IR.

The bridge as satellite just works as your ordinary z-wave router.
Almost any mains powered z-wave device acts as -zwave router, and cost (way) less.

Alright thanks. But without the Bridge all z wave devices where not ae to connect to Homey via Z wave so I needed a repeater.. and in this case I bought the Bidge (acting as a repeater)

Ah I see.
