So I bought a Homey Bridge to extend the z-wave and zigbee range in the house. When I go to developer site I see it added as a router under Zigbee, however… it does not show under Z-Wave. Is there anything I can do to fix that?
Hi. Because my fibaro motion sensor was unreachable on the (new) location i placed it i bought 2 homey bridges. unfortunately they do not seem to work in repeating the zwave network. i placed one of the bridges 2 meters from the homey pro and it is still not showing up in the zwave network. it does show up in the zigbee network (but only when it is in the same room as the homey pro (but when i try to ping it in developers tools i get a timeout). When i move it to another room 5 meters from the homey pro it dissapears from the zigbee network completely again.
Because it is not showing up on the zwave network at all i presume this error that was fixed in the 12.0.0 firmware is back in my firmware version (12.3.0) again. anyone else having the same problem? Is there anything i can do to see if the homey bridges work at all?
Thank you for your reply. I understand that the bridge is not a magical device. I didnt bought them to do magic, but to act as a zwave repeater. To set them up between the homey pro and the fibaro sensor with just a few meters between each hop. But none of the homey bridges show up in the zwave network as hop at all. So the fibaro sensor can not reach the network. If i pick up the sensor and bring it within a few meters of the homey pro it is able to receive and transmit. Shouldnt the homey bridges show up as a hop/zwavedevice as part of the mesh?
Sorry, it was not meant as patronising or anything. It occurred a bit to me you “plug it in” and expect z-wave/zigbee to work.
Z-wave has a very short pair mode range.
I can’t discover from your posts if you’re aware of that now.
This told me you haven’t got a zigbee mesh yet, and aren’t aware of the limited range of zigbee. You can’t just move things 5 meters away without a decent mesh network.
I hope you understand why I shared the KB documentation.
About the ‘why’ it doesn’t appear as z-wave repeater, this might help:
remove the bridge from Homey, and next, add it again, but put it within a 10, 20 cm range from Homey.
