Z-Wave Problem with Hie Bridge

Dear HOMEY Team, dear HOMEY Community,

I need your help with an issue involving my HOMEY Bridge and a FIBARO Door/Window Sensor 7 Pro (Z-Wave).

The sensor works perfectly when placed near my HOMEY Pro. However, when I move it close to the HOMEY Bridge—even just a few centimeters away—it doesn’t seem to be recognized or connect properly.

This leads me to suspect a problem with the Z-Wave functionality of the HOMEY Bridge. Is there a way to test whether Z-Wave (or ZigBee) is working correctly on the HOMEY Bridge, or could it possibly be defective?

I’d greatly appreciate any guidance or troubleshooting tips you can provide.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Best regards, Sebastian

Hello Sebastian,

Sometimes it takes a while for a z-wave device to start using an other z-wave router. So possibly it’s only a matter of waiting.

Here you can view your z-wave network

Hi Peter, thank you! That was a good tip👍 but shouldn’t the Homey Bridge also be listed as Z-Wave or Zigbee Device? Here it only lists the Homey Pro, right?

Have you configured the Homey Bridge as a satellite? → Setting up Satellite Mode for Homey Pro (Early 2023)

Hi Dirk, thanks a lot for the info! I Think now we are getting closer! Do I understand it right, that the Homey Bridge has to be in the Z-Wave Range of the Homey Pro to receive the Z-Wave Signals? It is not sufficient that it is connected to wlan because the bridge does not send/receive the signals but rather just extends the Z-Wave Network?

Homey Bridge is not acting as a bridged z-wave device, it functions just like your ordinary z-wave router.
The exact functionality description can be found with the link Dirk shared earlier.

So, the bridge as satellite has to be in z-wave range of Homey. To extend the z-wave network range, consider adding (a) mains powered z-wave device(s) in between.

The bridge-over-(W)LAN functionality you assumed for z-wave, is only valid for 433MHz, IR and Bluetooth:
