I just upgraded to a new router that supports 6g and want to take advantage of using that for apple products. But in order to do that I have to use smart connect and broadcast a single SSID.
Anyone had any issues doing this with HP? I know HP can connect to 2.4 or 5g wifi but so far it appears my HP only wants to connect to the 2.4 connection. Is this something I should worry about? Is being on 2.4g really going to be a speed issue for flows and automations?
No, but if you really worry about this you should consider getting an Ethernet adapter.

Thanks. Ethernet adapter is a non player for me as I have my HP located in kitchen bar top so it’s centrally located in-house and my router is in office…wiring an ethernet is not practical due to HP location.
just wanted to see what thoughts were on 2.4 vs 5g speed. Thanks
Like @robertklep said I also don’t see any reason for this to be an issue. Out of curiosity I just checked the network stats on my Unifi network and the only moments my Homey pro 2023 uses the network above 10Mbps is when Homey Pro updates itself
Maybe in the future it could be an issue if you decide to have 20 security cameras streaming 4K live feed simultaneously to Homey Dashboards when it will be supported. Beside that point, I don’t see any reason but maybe others have a different opinion. And even for that specific example, I’m not sure as it might depends on how Homey will implement it.
I would however highly recommend to have different Wifi networks. One for each radio band. It will offers better performance for all bands, provide more flexibility for devices far away from AP since 2.4 Ghz covers longer distance.
I figured I would be ok with 2.4g. But wanted to see different opinions. I agree if day comes with streaming that faster band. would be needed but at this point after the headache of getting a new router and having rebuild homey and homekit ecosystems I am just leaving it alone now LOL.
I agree the separate wifi bands was way to go. Maybe one day in future all these 2.4 devices will play nice on a single broadcasting system. Especially now that apple and other devices are 6g capable. One can dream LOL…and yes I am new
