Sensors stop working

I have several devices that show measurements of light, humidity and temperature. (Aqara, IKEA, Samsung)
These are added different Homeys (I have two).

When added they work fine for a while and I can see the measurements updating in the Homey app.

But eventually they all get “stuck”. Meaning they start showing constant measurements.
If I reconnect the devices they start working again. But eventually they stop working again.

Anyone else having experienced this issue?

You did not provide sufficient level of details…

Both Honeys are the old PRO.
The are running 12.2.0 software. But this issue has been a thing since I got them 2 years ago. So it’s been a thing on all versions of the software since then.

The IKEA and Aqara devices are ZigBee and Samsung is a WiFi device.

I do not have any routers but this issue was an issue even when I had about 5-10 ZigBee devices.

They are running at the same place ?

Zigbee-Wifi interference have you checked ? WiFi ZigBee Interference Checker

You’d know the combi Homey zigbee & Ikea lights (=router) & Aqara sensors is known for possibly causing Aqara sensors to stop sending measurements.
If you have Ikea lights added to Homey:
Replace the Ikea lights or the Aqara sensors.

No they are not running at the same place.

Will check the interference thibgy tomorrow.

I do have IKEA lights and Aqara sensors.
But it’s not only the Aqara sensors that stop working. It’s also the Samsung and IKEA sensors.

I am sorry for getting in the middle of this but suggesting to replace something that is supposed to work is not a solution to the problem. At least it should not be for “the most advanced hub in the world”.

It’s a workaround, just like many “solutions” on the forum are workaround for problems that have existed for a long time. Welcome to Homey.

Agree to this.

Also: if a product doesn’t work properly I think Homey should take their responsibility and warn about this.

It’s actually not Homey problem as such but rather the way IKEA implemented ZigBee on their Lights.
Maybe there could be firmware update available for those lights but we don’t know. Frankly answering the 1st question, I was almost rather to refuse any help stating forum rules as many details are missing.

Also bear in mind that many problems and workarounds exists for many others HUB…

Please, if you don’t have anything valid for troubleshooting this issue, don’t join this discussion as it’s off topic.

I just wonder, have you actually ever contacted Athom support, if this issue exists for you so long?

I have same issue. I also have 2 pro’s with each their own zigbee network, each on a different channel. I grouped aqara on 1 and the ikea devices on the other zigbee net. Not ideal, but it seems to work. (Else i had to throw/ give away the aqara stuff)

Please check your actual firmware version of your “lights” vs Release Notes - if you see you are using older firmware, you can try addressing your issue with with upgrading your lights firmware.

However, sadly Homey is not capable of Zigbee OTA updates, for that you would need to use some other solution.

You can either use IKEA official GW (and possibly even later integrate it back via Cloud - mostly if you don’t plan additional Zigbee sensors) or you can use some cheap solutions like Zigbee2MQTT just by buying some USB stick, installing it eg. on Windows machine, upgrade firmware and add it back to Homey without removal. See Supported Adapters | Zigbee2MQTT - you can get those very cheap anywhere, mostly from Aliexpress. I have upgraded almost all my Zigbee devices in the past, because almost every manufacturer screw-up something in their firmware and OTA is usually the only way to fix them. And some, like Aqara, sometimes they even don’t fix their issues.

However please note we are JUST speculating here, as IKEA Lights issues are quite often stated here is potential issue but haven’t seen yet any follow-up, firmware analysis, impact of OTA upgrades etc.

Also this should NOT influence Wifi Samsung devices - so if you are observing issues with Zigbee as well with Wifi devices, the problem is somewhere else I would guess .

Strange though that this problem only manifests itself on Homey. I’ve used IKEA and Aqara for many years together on z2m and they haven’t given me any problems.

Speaking about this, @Peter_Kawa , you are very often reminding me of this issue - do you know it’s related to HP19 only or HP23 as well ?

I don’t have much experience with it myself, also not using IKEA Tradfri lights but based on quick search :

Some say they have success, some don’t. I had a bad experience with them dropping everything that connected through them. So I don’t pair them directly to the hub.

My ikea tradfri bulbs (TRADFRI bulb GU10 WS 400lm) have stopped responding to any command (on/off, dimming, color temp, etc.). Is there a new issue with Ikea bulbs I am unaware of?

I have >50 Trådfri bulbs, including the 1055lm ones, and they sometimes drop off the network after a few months, but I’ve never had issues pairing them to a Conbee 2 with either ZHA or deconz.

Whether or not those issues were fixed by those other implementations (eg. rewriting firmware on coordinator side, which in case of HP23 require Silicon Labs action), it’s not completely uncommon topic on other platform.

But let’s see what the author of this thread will say on the questions raised.

Fair enough, although most issues seem to be with the lights themselves, while this thread started out as “Aqara being routed through IKEA” which, for some reason, seems much more problematic on Homey than on other platforms (although sensors that stop updating is a regular occurrence on Homey anyway).

Yes, it is my problem because I am experiencing a lot of similar issues. Other hubs cost a fraction of what Homey Pro does, it should work flawlessly, and it is rather far away from that.

That is exactly what I am trying to say. You can buy 5 or 6 other hubs with the cost of one Homey Pro, it should be held to higher standards.

Yes, but I believe that Homey should be held to higher standards, you can buy 8 Smartthings units with one Homey Pro. So, what is it that I am paying for? Because I was told many half-truths before I discovered it is just a glorified piece of plastic.
