Planning to connect over 50,000 building, is it possible?

Good day all !

I’m working on a prototype with a governmental entity that is on charge of marinating & operating over 97,000 building, these building mostly are open as construction (doesn’t have walls) more like indoor basketball court or churches and mosques.

It contains :

  • lights
  • fans
  • chandeliers
  • air conditioners / heaters

these facilities are opened a few times a day for 30min a time , a few days a week.

Main Goals :
1- control all electronics mentioned above (on/off) based on time.
2- control temperature.
3- measure electricity consumption.
4- CCTV remote access.

This entity wants to control everything from a central location.

so far, we did 3 prototype using several ZigBee hubs to find out which one is good for our case, now we want to use Homey Pro, will it be good for this project?

Thank you

No.
In my opinion Homey’s Zigbee implementation is far not stable/reliable enough to use it in a business environment.
Let alone in such a huge environment…

What are the alternatives in your opinion ?

For that, you would have to give much more information.
I even ask myself if I understood your English correctly.
People here are mostly home users, so if you want to implement something is an extremely large environment, you might want to consult professionals.

You have to look for something big and simular like SCADA and PLC’s for industrial systems.
But I presume you have knowledge of that kind of systems for building control.

I’m a software engineer and I have over 25+ years of experience as full-stack developer and 14+ years in SCADA systems, these facilities are 97% like homes (soft & comfy) and don’t require heavy duty devices like PLCs. and my team & I feal positive about this project.

Good luck, let us know how Homey Pro performs with several 100s of devices.
Also curious how you are going to manage it and how many users wil use the app and WebApp.

Compared to the costs of your project it costs nothing in terms of time and costs to do a few pilots in the house of you and your team mates and decision makers. Then we have the same knowlegde and experience. And we will have a much more clear discussion.
You can even pay it your self for your own home, so I would expect you have some practical experience already.
