When connecting the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) to the Homey Pro using Matter, the 'Heat + Cool" option is not there (like it is when using the Google app). What is there is “Automatic” (screen shot attached) which simply doesn’t work. The app shows orange background (thinking it’s on heating, even thought it’s not) and when I try to change the temperature , it says 'The temperature is our of range". Anyone have this same issue and / or have a solution or perhaps this is a bug that needs to be worked out?
The Matter specification specifies “Heating”, “Cooling” and “Auto” modes, so Homey is limited to implementing those.
If “Auto” doesn’t work, or if you’re getting errors, you should contact Athom: https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/360015784034-Submitting-a-support-request
(my guess is that the “out of range” error might have to do with the same issues that I’m running in to with my HomeKitty app, where Homey internally converts some temperatures from C to F, but in a broken way)
FWIW, there’s also a dedicated Nest app: Google Nest App for Homey | Homey
Have you tried that?
I have used the official Google Nest app and it works fine because it has a Heat + Cool option. I was just trying to use Matter to have a more ‘direct’ connection from the homey pro to the Nest. I’m going to to stick with that for now.
Thanks.
