My Homey Pro keeps disconnecting

Hi,

I recently bought a Homey Pro and is really happy with the home automation features it bring to my home but shortly after setting it up it started disconnecting from the app.

I have tried using a different usb c charger which was suggested in this community but it didnt help.a

Have anyone been able to figure out why it keeps disconnecting?

The screen is from this morning.

This is caused by a bug, contact homey.app/support please.

However, this is occurring very often in your case. Assuming you don’t use the ethernet dongle :
Homey is also very picky when it comes to wifi setup. This might decrease the number of offline situations.
Reserve IP address for Homey (and all it’s connected wifi devices)
Acces Points: make sure Homey can’t hop between AP’s
wifi5 wifi6: Create a separate 2.4GHz SSID and connect Homey with it.

It can be very helpful to read the log(s) of your router that your Homey Pro is connected to…

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue!

I have separated vlan for my IOTs , the homey pro are locked (via UniFi UI) to one of my access points, but it’s still disconnecting several times a day.

If you have any ideas please?

My problem was resolved by switching the power supply to a more powerful laptop power supply.

Same happens to me… Happens on wifi and ethernet . Have you found a solution?

Exactly the same here  Sometimes it’s working fine for several weeks, and then it’s suddenly disconnecting and reconnecting over 25 times a day/night. I hope someone has a fix

I am experiencing exactly this! So, weeks everything is fine. Then all of a sudden multiple disconnects per day

Yesterday I assigned a fixed IP address to my Homey and again during the night some disconnects. So, today I created a separate 5Ghz only network. How can I connect my Homey to that separate network? This is getting pretty annoying!

See this article for how to change the Wifi connection.

Did you also replace the powersupply for the Homey? It’s a common solution for this issue. The forum is full of it, including this one

Thanks this is what Copilot also showed me but I was concerned that I would lose all my settings. The link that you shared clearly shows that all settings are safe.

I haven’t tried a different power brick. I did raise a ticket with support though. If this is a common issue and this is the default solution, they might as well send me a new one

And of course, today all day long no disconnects! I will keep that additional 5Ghz network for the time being.

Ok, another disconnect. So, I switched to the 5Ghz only network. Which was interesting in itself. First the Homey Pro was found and it tried to connect, but that didn’t work. So, I stopped the setup process and tried to discover it again. This time after it was discovered it was able to connect.

Then I tried connecting to the new WiFi network. I tried multiple times, but it wasn’t able to connect suggesting that I needed to check my password. I copied the password from the Unifi settings and it still didn’t work. After that I tried connecting to the old network and that also didn’t work!

After trying to connect once more to the new network it did work out.

This makes me wonder if perhaps the internal network chip or antenna of my Homey Pro is not working properly. Is the connection after discovery also done through a direct WiFi connection? Or is this typical behavior that indicates the power brick is not good (anymore)?

If it’s a PW with special characters,
temporary change the SSID PW to something very simple and try again.
Sometimes certain devices can’t handle certain special characters in passwords;
I’m not sure Homey is such a device.

Homey was unable to connect. And in most cases this is because of a user error, entering the wrong password. That’s why the suggestion was given:”Did you enter the wrong password?” I was 100% sure I had the right password. Even copied it from my Unifi settings.

It was proven to be the right password because after entering the exact same password (by pasting the value on my clipboard) for the fifth time, it did connect.

So, in that regard: connecting to a 5Ghz only Homey dedicated network that is broadcasted from only one AP with my Homey fixed to that AP and Homey assigned to a fixed IP address is done.
Unfortunately last night there were about 10 disconnects and reconnects. So, this is not the solution. Currently I am trying another 3A/20W power brick. Let’s see if that works.

Edit: so far so good! No disconnects ever since replacing the power adapter. Just out of curiosity: does anyone know if the current Homey Pros are being shipped with the new power adapter or still the old one?
