[Matter] IKEA DIRIGERA hub en IKEA Home smart - Central topic

I have 2 x Timmerflotte, 1 x Alpstuga, 1 x MYGSPRAY, 1x KLIPPBOK and 1 x Bilresa directly connected to the Homey Pro without too much trouble. No issues with responsiveness. Actually, I also have a Dirigera hub (for testing) and a lot of the mentioned devices that connected to the Homey Pro had great difficulty to connect the Dirigera Hub.

Hello,

Still waiting for a new light to arrive, but have used an old tradfri light bulb to test connected to dirigera hub via the Ikea App.
Had to remove the bilresa dual button as it became unresponsive and could not be revived, so only have the light bulb with myggbett and myggspray.
The myggbett still works connected to the light bulb, but the myggspray just went offline. Had to take batteries out/in and then it started working again.
None of the devices other then the timmerflotte could be connected to the homey pro directly, only via the dirigera hub.
This is my myggspray

on Homey Pro 2023, 12.10.1 via dirigera on firmware 2.901.4 with matter version 1.0 and Ikea Home smart app 1.57.1.

I do not have issues. (Modded Homey pro 2023) Try to connect near Homey.

Update on using ikea matter devices on homey pro 2023:

As one of the issues mentioned during internet searches on possible issues was referring to instable 2.4 network, I switched my Netgear Orbi router from automatic to channel 11, as that is one of the preferred channels (1,6 or11). Depending on how it holds I might do some further ā€œrecommended netgearā€ tweaks on that.

As I also have HUE bridge, which I chose to upgrade to HUE PRO.

The Kajplats lightbulb was available so I purchased it + the alpgusta sensor to have at least 2 powered devices on the thread network and not just battery operated.

I removed all from the dirigera HUB and deleted the HUB from homey, did a complete reboot of network, homey pro and hue and checked using delevoper tools nothing was ā€œleft behindā€.

Then I started adding the devices directly on homey starting with the powered devices first and then moving on to the battery operated ones. This time adding to Homey using the Ikea App went smoothly for all devices (sitting around 7 meters distance from the homey pro) and all were visible with IP adresses linked.

First couple of hours some devices became ā€œunreachableā€ for a few minutes but that resolved itself after a few minutes. Maybe some OTA updates were happening, but as far as I know firmware updates for the IKEA devices do not work OTA without the Dirigera HUB.

Some IKEA zigbee devices (battery operated sensors and remote controls) also became unresponsive and had to take out batteries and put them back in, before they were visible again (no repair neededā€.

Up till now it seems to be stable, but it has only been approx. 2 days so will have to wait and see for next week(s).

I have a lot of Ikea devices. Bulbs, inspelning switches etc. I never had issues. Could indeed be interference between wifi and zigbee network.

Connecting matter devices is another subject. No issues either. This morning I bought the dirigera to test. Connected a Timmerflotte and Alpstuga via shared matter device. The firmware was immediately updated.

I’ve been using Timmerflotte, Kajplats and Bilresa directly with Homey via Matter/Thread since christmas. So far I’ve returned three Bilresa switches thinking they were faulty because of the same problem, but now it started a fourth time so I’m actually suspecting Homey.

All works perfectly fine for a few days or weeks, until suddenly the button presses from Bilresa no longer reach Homey. The Bilresa is online, reporting battery status and assigned an IP-address in the thread network. But my ā€œif-ā€¦ā€ flows never trigger. Also a simple ā€œif button pressed, add notification to timelineā€ does nothing.

I’ve removed and re-added the batteries to the Bilresa, I’ve successfully re-coupled it using Matter. Nothing helps….

Now I also have a Philips Hue dimmer switch (connected via the Hue bridge) and suddenly the same issue happened yesterday. I could see the button presses in the HUE app, but nothing in Homey.

Now I restarted Homey and the Philips HUE Dimmer Switch works again, but the Bilresa button events are still not processed anymore.

Edit: Kajplats and Timmerflotte work perfectly fine and stable.

hi i need some help connecting my myggspray.
it looks like im stuck on the thread part.
it connects bleutooth en then switches to thread stays there for a while and then error pops up.

device couldnt found. tried pairing via homey and via ios both end up not connecting?

replaced batteries, rebooted homey, rebooted wifi, switched of security in wifi. switched from auto to 2.4gh wifi butnothing works. just cant get ik connected not from ikea app or without the app and straight to homey.

help…

I wouldn’t recommend doing that. Besides the fact that opening up your network means anyone can connect, many IoT devices can’t connect to ā€œOpenā€ networks

I have about 20-25 of the new matter enabled IKEA devices connected to my Self Hosted Homey without using the Dirigera Hub, is there a way to update the firmware of these devices or is the only way with the Dirigera hub?

I have a similar issue with my Bilresa Scroll wheel remote, for some reason all the ā€œbutton press/clickā€ cards disappear from the device in Homey, breaking all the related flows.

( all the cards within the red box would disappear, the others were fine )

Thread devices don’t use WiFi at all.

You need to share your devices with a controller that supports Matter OTA updates, like Home Assistant or various Apple devices (ATV, HomePod).

Thanks, I have a HomePod, I’ll give that a try!

If I try to share Bilresa with HomeKit it unfortunately gives an error. Timmerflotte works fine…

I’ve had that in the past as well, but now the flow cards remain, they simply seem not to work anymore

Soon that’s possible with Homey. We have to wait untill they push that option. For now you could use the Dirigera hub to update your matter Ikea devices or Apple HomeKit or Home Assistant or other matter devices

Thnx @robertklep for pointing out the Dirigera hub is not the only device to update IKEA matter devices

I’m going to file a support ticket with Homey. Just decoupled the Bilresa from Homey and coupled it to HomePod / HomeKit >> button press works fine. Decoupled from Apple HomePod and back to Homey, button press no longer triggers the ā€œwhenā€ flow card.

Today I moved a Tuya zigbee device and all Ikea matter device disconnect. Other matter battery devices still running (bigger distance).

Removed zigbee device, restart Kajplats and also the 3 myggspray running again.

Next week I will be add a kajplats between Homey and the other Kajplats. Maybe Ikea matter signal is to weak. Other cheap Matter door contacts just work directly with Homey.

That’s not correct, you can also perform updates from Home Assistant and Apple devices (and probably other Matter controllers too).

Did you get a new pairing code from Homey to use with HomeKit?
