LG ThinQ ON AI home hub: A familiar looking device…

Athom B.V. remains its own company with its own bottom line, as we mentioned earlier; nothing is changing in that regard. We are simply now a subsidiary of LG Electronics. :wink:

So Athom’s getting paid by LG to create/develop the ThinQ ON hub? Even more reason to start remunerating app developers :wink:

I guess you’ll have to explain that to your new boss :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(source)

How do you find these numbers? thanks

@HenriDO get the json response of the App Store and filter that :wink:

great thanks :wink:

Nope, found a different CPU type.

I did some research,
it is almost impossible to get a LG ThinQ ON outside Korea.
And registering is bound to some sort of Telco ID from Korea. (i-Pin) No phone or ID, no registration for the https://kr.lgemembers.com/.

So First was “true” , you can’t even change Language to English as far as I know.
No idea if they have plans to bring it to other countries or Europe.
As we already noticed, it also installs Community Apps.

It has a complete different interface, build in the ThinQ App. (And I need a second phone to Translate it :cry: )
The Web App is to my opinion slow (Could be Auto Translate in Chrome) ,
and it doesn’t look like Athom’s Clean Homey.app interface.

everywhere these two characters hanging around :wink:

the Device interface is complete different, Compare this with your sysInternals in Athoms Homey Pro

Running Apps in LG ThinQ ON Powered by Homey:

Nice to Know:

  • LG ThinQ ON users can not choose for the /Test apps. (but see them in the Version History on the ThinQ Play store.
  • LG ThinQ ON users can’t send a App Report. I couldn’t find a button in the App.
  • Looks like LG even Blocks Crash reports and manual Reports.
  • the Homey inside runs now on a Firmware version between ~ v12.5.1-lg.15 and 13.1.0-lg.7

a LG ThinQ ON is not running on Raspberry CM4! (Cortex-A72) but identifies itself as homey5q , running on a QC ‘Cortex-A53’ with ! 2 GB RAM :thinking:

it reports the following:
…
homeyVersion: ‘12.5.1-lg.15’,
homeyPlatform: ‘local’,
homeyPlatformVersion: 2,
homeyModelId: ‘homey5q’,
homeyModelName: ‘Homey Pro (Early 2023)’,
nodeVersion: ‘v18.20.8’,
hostname: ‘homey-6****************************7.local’,
totalmem: 1956139008,
freemem: 908410880,
loadavg: [ 5.43, 2.26, 0.84 ],
uptime: 126.76,
cpus: [
{ model: ‘Cortex-A53’, speed: 0, times: [Object] },
(4 Cores)
…

While the Cortex-A53 could be an Raspberry CM3, that isn’t to my knowledge released with 2 GB Ram. So it looks to me they used another module like fe the Forlinx Embedded SoMs

Nice to tinker around but not really the device I would expect, nor do I like their branding/modification of the UI.
(but she talks nice to me, while I don’t speak Korean)

What happens when you try that Homey Cloud ID (everything after homey- ) as https://<cloudid>.connect.athom.com/api/manager/system/ping?id=<cloudid> in a web browser? Does it return true? If it does, it means that the Homey is connected to Athom’s cloud, and you might be able to find some hidden endpoints there

true

and http:// local-IP

{
  "homeyId": "6****************************7",
  "homeyVersion": "12.5.1-lg.15"
}

so it definitely the LG-Homey is connected to Athom’s cloud,
but both systems have an different authentication provider for what I see, the LGThinQOn Owners can’t invite a Athom Accounts and vice versa.
As I can’t install a development App or an Test App on it that makes it complex.
I can’t log in with a LG account in Development tools or WebApp either

I do see this part in the accounts.athom code:

        <% if (enableSignInWithApple) { %> <button type="button" class="login-button-secondary" id="apple-login"><img src="/images/apple.ea49b650.png">Sign in with Apple</button> <% } %> <% if (enableSignInWithLG) { %> <button type="button" class="login-button-secondary" id="lg-login"><img src="/images/lg.b80a2bcf.png">Sign in with LG</button> <% } %> </div>
    </form></script><script type="text/html" template="tos"><h2>Create account.</h2>

So there is actually an option for Sign in with LG, and it’s disabled by this script:

<script>window.config = {
      authHost: "https://accounts.athom.com",
      apiHost: "https://api.athom.com",
      lgEmpBaseurl: "https://nl.m.lgaccount.com/emp/v2",
      enableSignInWithLG: "false",
      enableSignInWithApple: "true",
      appleClientId: "",
      lgClientId: "8edd295a71ae4b2e801369c505617325",
      signedState: "750ce2196b1365c4f71e316e946275e18c123c1b16cbcc70cd0ff2403bccdb3ehttps://accounts.athom.com/login"
    };</script>

So it’s definitely possible (the feature is there at least), maybe only via Korean VPN?

Hmmm… Have seen the button some time agon in the tools.developer… login
then nothing worked.

Let’s try again :wink:

Edit:
Finally, this time it worked Logged in to Developer Tools with the kr LG-Account.
Let’s see what is possible :partying_face:

From the Web API playground, you may be able to send a diag. report or install a test version
Full reference for all the calls:

Wow, checking the developer.tools… site as ThinQ :cry:
it is crippled…

Left my normal account menu-bar (doesn’t fit), and Think is missing some things,
OK, no Infrared, or RF… but no Zigbee…
no App Settings/ App Performance / Settings / Pairing …

no Web API playground
And Switching from that Account/Site to the WebApp :broken_heart:

Example:

Homey.apps.installFromAppStore({ id: "nl.dypodex.converter", channel: "test", waitForInstall: true, version: "1.0.1"})

Just open the URL manually, the option is just hidden (just like their Push Notifications option and Review Apps option for employees):

https://tools.developer.homey.app/tools/api-playground

And to send diagnostics report

Homey.apps.getAppStd({ id: "nl.dypodex.converter", message: "The app isn't working correctly, error messages appear"})

Of course you should do this with one of your own apps, because then you can actually view it.
