Is my Homey dead?

If you bought it in Europe from a retailer in the EU you have a 2 year warranty, no matter what the seller claims. The EU has its merits.

So nothing to do eh? Maybe some technician can have a look at it?

If Athom doesn’t want to take a look at it, there’s not much else you can do. Aside from some serious hardware hacks (which, from what I know, no one has undertaken yet) there is no known way to get low level information out of a Homey. Athom has tools available, but they don’t share them.

Here is also now dead Homey Pro 2019. I bought it one month ago from local store. It’s completely dead. Only small speaker sound when connecting to power. About one day before this machine was acting weirdly. It lost all Zigbee devices, then it lost all cards from flow.

Well, maybe there’s lots of work building machine list and all flows some day…

That means it’s very likely its power supply has died. Try replacing it.

I have tried with 2 different. Dead like a stone.

And the replacements can provide enough power?

But if you bought it only recently, I assume it’s still under warranty.

Yeah! There is warranty.

Update: they cannot fix it. It was money return. So have to think, do I buy Homey Pro 2023. Feel like my money for example advanced flow is gone. I have only 3 weeks time to use it.

If you message athom and explain your situation they will provide you the advanced flow for your next homey. It will be a giftgard for 25 euros so technically you could also spend it on backup service or what else in the store.

If you buy the new homey pro the advanced flow will be integrated

My homey early 2019 just died after battleling the horrible hardware for 5 years, worst piece of electronics I ever owned. The software was good and my whole home runs on it. Considering to buy the 2023 one. Anybody experience if it is the same bad hardware as the 2019

It is completely different hardware but I alsondo not have a bad experience from the original Hardware.
Having 5 from 2016 and 2018 and a 2019 Pro.

only the 2018 is a replacement from one of the first batches of 2016.

So still running 5 and a couple of 2023s

How did you battle with hardware ?

Hmm, that piece of electronics, which in your case ran probably ~ 43 000 hours for last 5 years ?

In the beginning, it was often not working, it crashed, failed to respond etc . Changing the power supply, made it work better. If you left it alone it would usually work, but if you acces it for adding a device or a flow, then it would crash repeatedly. It takes about 4 hours to add one lamp. Just looking at it in the app would make it crash within 2 minutes. This means it can not handle communication in addition to the 30 flows which I had in there.

Five years is not much of an achievement, certainly considering it is more or less idle 99% of the time.
Our company installs and programs PLC’s for the industry. They run actively 24/7 for 15-20 years. The only reason to replace them is obsolescence or new needed features

Sorry to hear that, however it seems then the Homey was faulty since beginning, probably right from start ready for Warranty replacement. Hardware wise it’s not bad designed device, some of the faulty units nowadays are rather connected to the use of improper power supply.

Anyway, to your question, HP 2023 is completely new hardware, based on Raspberry CM4, there were some issues at the beginning related again to the power supply and sometimes cable, but if you will order directly from Athom, you will get unit with proper equipment already (so if you order some unit from some 3rd party shop, there is risk it will be older unit with issues fixed already in the meantime)
