How many devices ( Z-Wave ) devices

strong text
1 )How many devices can I add to the CLOUD when using the Bridge and the monthly Cloud membership.

2 ) Does the CLOUD monthly membership give me access to all the Apps found on the Homey Pro.

Hello Dom,

  1. There’s no theoretical limit to the number of devices in general. But there somehow will be a limit when it comes to performance. How many z-wave devices do you have in mind? The bridge should be able to handle up to 100 z-wave devices in real life situations, maybe less, maybe more.

According to Homey bot:

Maximum Z-Wave devices with Homey Bridge (using Homey Cloud Premium): about 240 devices
This is the network capacity; real-world performance depends on range/mesh quality and device mix and interference;

If you plan a large network, add a healthy number of mains- or USB powered Z-Wave devices (routers) to strengthen the mesh.
Battery powered z-wave devices don’t act as router.

  1. No, only to Homey Cloud apps, which is quite limited.
Check it out in the appstore by using the “Homey Cloud” filter:

Thanks Peter,

Thanks Peter,

I checked the available( Cloud Apps ) naturally missing what I need.

Now, if I was to purchase the Pro Mini, to which I would add my existing Bridge Premium, would this give me access to the Pro Apps.

Dom

Yes, the Pro mini has all the same functions as the Pro, except Z-Wave and infrared, but the bridge should be able to provide that.

It doesn’t have as much memory as the Pro, so won’t be able to install as many apps, but I’m fairly sure it would be enough.

Additional: you cannot add a Pro mini to Homey Cloud.
But, you can add the bridge to Homey Pro mini as Adrian wrote.
This means you’ll have to start from scratch, in case you want to move to a Pro mini.
Flows can be exported & imported nowadays though ( but you’ll need a keyboard with an ALT button).

thanks Adrian

Good morning Peter, I haven’t added much yet, so restarting is no big deal. There is one thing that needs looking into. Any individual that started with the Bridge, and joined the Premium service, should be able to purchase a Mini at a substantial discount.
Dom

Hi Dominic,

You’ll have to address that view on pricing to Athom, https://homey.app/support

The main limiting factor of the Homey cloud is actually the rate limit. On Homey Cloud there is actually a limit on how many cards/flows you can run simultaneously. So when you start adding more and more smart devices, you also want to automate more and more. Especially when you start adding motion/presence sensors, you will run into those limits very quickly.

Good Afternoon Peter,

Thanks for the info. I realized the pitfall of trying to migrate from Cloud Bridge to Mini, not long after having purchased the Bridge, unfortunately it was too late to return it.

I haven’t done anything on the Bridge yet, I figured I would wait until I could afford buying the Mini, in order to avoid the frustration of switching over.

Amazon does not have any ProMini yet, and they don’t know when to expect them.

Being on pension, there is no way in hell I can afford the price $ 575.00 for the Pro. so I guess i’ll put the bridge aside, and add it to my mistake cabinet.

Dom

A new pro is above my budget as well.
I just realised Appollo Automation, Homey partners, sells the mini to Canada (I think I read somewhere you’re Canadian).
But it gets shipped from USA, additional cost can spoil the party.
If you’re interested:
Shop:

(When checking the shop from the Netherlands the Mini is not shown)

You can contact
Apollo Automation in this topic or @ Discord, very nice guys.

[Oh, and you’d know I’m in no way affiliated or getting any commission]
