Homey Pro 2023 wifi connection issues?

I can agree on that 5ghz is overkill for a IoT

hello same problem with connection here. i tried 3 mesh routers. tp link deco x60, xe75 and mercusys halo 90, only 1 unit was for test online. homey randomly up to 24 hours goes offline on wifi and after reboot come not back on wifi also. another wifi devices make no problem only homey. sad is that this make also on lan cable adapter so i dont understand this. homey need 110% connection to control whole house.

You mean Homey is randomly offline when connected to ethernet as well?

yes it is offline also when i use ethernet cable. when i look in my router settings i see there 2x homey (1xoffline wifi mac adress and 1x offline lan cable mac adress). can i make some report or something to send to support?

Somewhere in Settings / General (or system) has to be a “create diagnostic report” button.

Looks like a cable or ethernet adapter issue? (There were some reports of broken ethernet adapters).

Holaa,

My Homey seems to lose network connection a lot. I get messages every four minutes (or so) that my other network devices are offline, then a minute later that they’re online again…Apart from this, all seems fine.

Anyone experience the same and found a way to fix it? I don’t have wires running to where the Homey is, and would prefer not to put it anywhere else.

I’m curious to what sends those messages?
I use the Net Scan app to monitor Homey > router. This shows when Homey really loses connection.

Anyways, make sure to

  • Create a separate 2.4GHz SSID
  • Fix Homey to one AP, by MAC filtering, band steering or transmit power tuning

Also,

  • Check all app insights for memory and CPU use, look for the ones with the highest numbers.
When there are apps with (very) high numbers compared to other apps, temporarily disable these apps to see if the connection becomes more stable.

“Hi, thanks for your response. I’m completely fed up :frowning: The internet connection is strong, I have a direct Ethernet cable connection. And today, for the 9th time, the application isn’t working when I need it the most to turn on the lights, and the automation isn’t functioning. Right now, the boiler should be turning on. On the Homey Pro and the bridge, there’s a spinning red circle. And the app says it can’t connect.”“Meanwhile, it worked on Saturday and Sunday. It’s been non-functional since Monday. And the children can’t even turn on the light in the bathroom and their room.”

Hi Milan,

I’m somewhat confused, earlier on you wrote this

and now this

So, is Homey connected by Ethernet dongle or is it connected by wifi? Did you check and double check the network, by connecting a laptop or anything to the cable running to Homey, and run some speed tests?

If Homey actually is connected by Ethernet dongle, then I’d write to homey.app/support asap as well.

.

Ah, that doesn’t always mean Homey really is offline. 90% of the time it’s an old bug. Please install and configure the Net Scan app as I proposed in my previous post.

.

Did you check on misbehaving apps already?

.

Pro:

Breathing RedHomey Pro has crashed, it will restart automatically. If this keeps happening, try restoring the firmware using the USB Tool.
→ Rotating can be called spinning, but,
If it’s ‘breathing’ instead of spinning like you wrote, did you try the USB Tool procedure already?

Rotating RedHomey Pro is being reset to factory settings.
→ That’s almost impossible to happen without someone pressing the pin for over 30s

Bridge:

WIFI ISSUES
Pulsing RedHomey Bridge cannot connect to the Wi-Fi or the internet.

Um… that is not so smart. My home is 100% functional without network or Homey or whatnot. Wall switches or dimmers should be smart versions, which still can operate the devices without any controller or network.
Otherwise you shouldn’t use wireless stuff, and have a failover Homey and such in place. Or use a professional domotica system (Homey isn’t). That’s just my opinion and advice.

Oh I understand you are losing your patience, but this is just a users for users forum, telling you’re fed up with it makes no sense. We understand it can be a frustrating journey sometimes.
Make smart decisions of which things you automate (and do it really well), and what you don´t automate. Saves you lots of grey hairs

You have to much trust in this technology. I use a decent thermostat with a default heating schedule, which is leading. My Homey only can set temporary temperatures.

I am having extreme connectivity issues nowadays. A quick power cycle on the homey fixes it.
