I have some issues with a dimmer where homey is stating that the device is not matter certified/according to the manual stamping and I am assuming CSA it is certified.
I want to make sure that I’ve taken the correct steps
-Adding the dimmer in the web-interface/homey matter gives me this error: Unable to connect: The device that is being added is not certified for Matter and cannot be added to Homey Pro.
-Adding the dimmer from the Homey Android app (Homey) gives me the same error message.
-Adding the dimmer from the Homey Android app (through Android) scanning the OCR code connects me to the dimmer, generates matter certficates then it gets stuck on trying to connect to my wifi-network until the device times out (10 minutes)
I have also tried to disable the 5ghz radio “Ubiquity Unifi Dream Router” making sure everything is connected to 2.4ghz with the same issue as above.
Looking at settings, thread in the homey android app it states
Homey Pro for both the hub and preffered
Same Extended PAN ID
Available
It does not state a Host with a local IP address as referenced on the homey web site
I did place a ticket to Athom I will probaby get a response on Monday but was hoping to get this up and running. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
There’s nothing you can do, Athom needs to check why your Homey says your device is uncertified when the CSA database suggests that it is (this is why most Matter implementations will allow uncertified devices to be connected anyway).
Official response from Athom was not matter certified and later “that it’s the software or certificate or something” nothing they can do on their end referring me to the manufacturer.
I did ask if they can officially confirm if it not matter certified leaving me the later response I was hoping for a conclusion that it’s the matter implemanation of the device leading to manufacturer faulty advertising of the product as matter certified and a claim to the reseller/return of product.
Matter certified (stamped matter)
Homey Compatible (stated in the manual)
Listed in CSA as matter certified Dimmable Light - CSA-IOT “This smart dimmer is based on Matter over thread, with Matter feature, you are no longer tied to specific platforms and works with all certified smart home platform”
I did not get any confirmation, only “the certificate or software something issue with device contact manufacturer” nothing they can do about it and it does not give me much information to proceed with.
As the device is listed as fully matter compliant on CSA for all certified matter platforms with not much else information leaving the only conclusion that Homey is not matter fully matter compliant. I will initiate discussions with the reseller and see if they can test it on Homey or other platforms / if I get a confirmation that it works on other platforms but not Homey I will move to a matter certified platform instead. Hopefully it’s an issue with the device
Will update the thread later
Do you have any other Matter controllers that you can pair the device with? I wonder if your device has the same product and vendor ID as the device mentioned on that page.
Here’s a list of companies that have Matter-certified devices in the CSA database. Try to work out which one is missing
“For the past year, we have been working on getting the foundation ready to support Matter devices in Home Assistant. Our implementation is based on the official Matter SDK, and we plan for it to become officially certified by the CSA to show that it will work problem-free with all products that carry the Matter logo. But we are not there yet; that is why we still label Matter as Beta in the integrations list. This will not change until our implementation has been certified.”
It’s just a bit hypocritical that Homey will only allow certified devices to work with it, while it’s not certified itself.
That would only make it Thread-certified (if there’s such a thing, I don’t know), Matter works over different transport protocols so is unrelated to a specific chip.

Unfortunately not and have had the same thoughts, i am assuming it does not differ as Athom has not commented on it (or it’s not exposed with the diagnostic report they asked for). Some clarity from Athom would have been good but I kinda gave up after 4 replies with each reply stating ticket closed we cannot do anything please contact the manufacturer.
They have all available information.
