Home Pro 2023 is ... not the perfect device I hoped it would be

Hello,

But there is problem with app. Not the flow.

For example I have Meross plug or strip and I don’t have any flow for it. I try to switch On or off but it doesn’t work. Everything looks ok from Homey perspective but I need to restart app.

@Lighty269 and @jardak,

Although i now use Home Assistent (+ Node-Red) for most of the smarthome tasks I have an Homey (then non-Pro) Early 2018 that is still supported by Athom and runs great.

I started my transition to HA some months ago but not because i think Homey is a bad product / device. My main reason was/is the lack of support for camera’s (pass through to Homekit)
But now Homey is primarily being used for it’s 433mhz antenna to control my Somfy RTS and KAKU devices and Z-wave antenna for some Fibaro plug sockets.

If you are a newbie at smarthome stuff and want a great looking piece of hard- and software that gets years of support, Athom has you covered.
When you are an experienced Home Assistent user and already have a stable smarthome running i really don’t see a reason to buy a Homey.

Homey is a great all in one solution to start building your smarthome with all kinds of devices, new and older protocols.

Same here

Have had it around 2 years and allowed to re-use all existing H/W w/o extra HUBs (incl. earlier (very limited functionality) Telldus nowadays in remote location as bridge). On new devices I always look for avail. Apps & community 1st to see true compatibility and to avoid new ones to disturb existing set-up…

I (still) appreciate HP2023 with very low level to start and (very) positive community () … and yes, while have had some hiccups on the road when expanding (mainly due my own coding creating e.g. 100% load for 30+sec), device has been what I initially looked for: easy, but flexible enough. And whenever facing issue with new App, instead of insisting miracles from author (as I always need it now  ), better to move on and look for alternatives (App or approach) for same H/W (or drop it).

What I would have hate the most is any (even periodical) maintenance of system level or need for HUBs just to connect (finally some benefit to have less space at home :face_with_peeking_eye:)… and I have not been disappointed (yet :zipper_mouth_face: )

Related to issues with WAN / LAN - in mine:

  • both connected (only LAN with fixed IP) org. LAN adapter-cable directly to Master-router
  • H/W: TP Link DECO X20 Mesh /2.4 and 5 ON normally (nowadays X50-4G as Master, rest X20)

=> If I would face mentioned network issues and normal tricks would not work (mentioned earlier on this topic):

  • Testing with an other brand / fresh router (in FIN several IT-stores with 30 days free return…)
  • disable suspect Apps one by one & restart HP2023…

Summary how I feel about : “Perfect devices” do not exist (as we all look for different things), but I am happy to have great one (for my needs)

I am switching back to HA exclusively if anyone in Canada wants to buy my Homey Pro. I’ve had it 6 months.

3 days ago I changed my Homey pro 2019 to 2023 and I am very happy with it.

Everything is working great. I manage to recovery my backup from 2019 homey (I only needed to once again link my zigbee devices) Everything is working a lot faster and it starts in 2 minutes not 15.

Hi, I’m now on HA and Hubitat for some time. Much better. Almost no problems. Better integration. NodeRED is great.
