I’m running SHS on Proxmox and I’m still stuck on 12.11.0.
The changelog for SHS mentions 12.11.1, and the latest version is supposedly 12.12.0.
Does the update function actually work at all?

There are indeed some strange behaviors that I reported here: https://community.homey.app/t/the-latest-docker-image-tag-points-to-v12-11-0-instead-of-v12-11-1/150809.
The Homey Pro 12.12.0 version is indeed the latest one. However, there’s a discrepancy with the SHS version, and we’re not quite sure why…
On top of that, there’s an issue with the ‘latest’ TAG on the Docker image, which isn’t pointing to the most recent version…
It would be beneficial to clarify the situation, particularly concerning the new SHS edition; it’s attracting new users who may find themselves feeling somewhat confused.
So, it’s a bit of a mess! ![]()
@Doekse What is the status here?
Thanks!
Menwhile there is a v12.12.0-rc.2 vor SHS available on Athom’s Github:
Which I was able to update to by Portainer:
Using the latest-tag still doesn’t work, you have to tag the exact version like above.
It also isn’t mentioned on Athom’s SHS changelog here:
SHS itself does show if there’s an update via Settings - Updates.
And also shows the correct version tag to use there. It also shows the changelog (but unfortunately I didn’t make a screenshot of it) and considers if you enabled experimental updates on Homey Developer Tools
I have also asked @Emile and @Doekse more than once, but they don’t answer… ![]()
I guessume the latest == the latest stable version, Henk?
Not everyone likes to run beta’s by just updating to the latest.
I went through this as well, in another thread. You have to follow the update instruction in the SHS Linux install How=To. And yes, Latest is not = to Beta latest. When you enable Beta in Developer site, there is a strong hint there (which I missed the first time around). Thank to Peter_Kawa for getting me on the correct path.
If you made the VM with VMWare and have it starting at PC boot time, you will not be able to connect to the GUI to get this done. VMWare 25H2 has had some functionality deleted in vmrun.exe, thank you Broadcom. Either find an older version like 17, or maybe use VirtualBox.
I agree, but considering that there was a 12.11.2 release candidate, there would have been an 12.11.2 stable version as well since now there is a 12.12.0 release candidate.
See: [Homey SHS / Self-Hosted Server] Informationen und Diskussionen zu neuen Software-Updates - #5 by Henk_Renting
Have never seen that a release candidate didn’t make it to a stable version in Athoms version numbering.
And therefor there should be at least 1 update, probably two; for someone running v12.11.0 now.
(There was a 12.11.1 version according to Athoms SHS changelog page).
It would help a lot if Athom started updating their SHS changelog page properly…
Have asked @Doekse and @Emile a few times here, but no reply unfortunately.
Those of us running SHS are effectively without updates at the moment. I have also tried contacting Athom without success.
What is the reason this isn’t being prioritized by Athom? Has LG’s acquisition of Athom demanded too many resources? The core strategy behind LG’s acquisition in July 2024 is to integrate Athom’s technology into the LG ecosystem. LG’s overarching goal is to transform ThinQ into an open smart home platform.
It seems a large portion of their resources is currently being spent on integrating Homey technology into the LG ThinQ platform and TVs (webOS). Is this coming at the expense of support for Athom’s own ecosystem?
It is a valid concern—acquisitions often lead to a “resource drain” where the original product takes a backseat to the parent company’s roadmap.
I am running SHS on Proxmox. I’ve now added Home Assistant on a VM to test it out. It’s looking quite promising! ![]()
if you need urgent updates then sign up for the beta’s. There have been 2 RC releases in the past 2 weeks or less. 2.12 will come soon. The Linux instal page for SHS tells how to do the update, plus the info when you signed up for the Beta on Developers site.
Wouldn’t it be better to make a Support Request to get the info updated ?
I will try to explain. The tags latest and stable are still on 12.11.0 there briefly was an 12.11.1 beta after which we decided that it was confusing because all betas for pro are 12.x.x-rc.x so it became 12.12.0-rc.1. The changelog for 12.11.1 should have never been in the stable changelog and I since have removed it. 12.12.0 will become stable soon.
I now see that Camera Streaming marketing was done so I understand the confusion and frustration. I will move 12.12.0 to stable now.
And if you want to see those Beta/point releases, visit here: Package homey-shs · GitHub
It seems for the stats there that ppl are able to update, using the appropriate docker commands, e.g. as shown for the Linux install
12.12.0 confirmed OK. Running smooth, camera stream fine, and the zigbee repair is very velcome
Great work
Thanks very much for the clearification, @Jero.
Much appreciated! ![]()

For anyone else; the changelog is online too:
I am running on a Raspberry Pi, any idea how to update it?
Simply reboot your Raspberry Pi. Every time it starts, it will check for updates and install them.
Thanks, I tried that. It says update available but definitely not updating. I guess I will see what happen tonight
Still nothing this morning. Does anyone have any ideas? I tried to create a diagnostic report, but I got an overload error.
The simplest solution is to use the docker commands as described in the Linux SHS Install docs, then reboot.
