Generic Physical Thermostat

I searched around and saw VThermo and Adviced Device Capabilities. But I don’t think either of those fits the bill for what I’m trying to do.

I have a Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave thermostat. Resideo/Honeywell doesn’t have an app for that model in the app store. Is there any way to get basic mode/temp functionality in Homey? It would be nice to be able to do more advanced things, but I figure there has to be a way to at least set the temp and either heat/cool. But for the life of me I can’t figure it out.

The Advanced Device Capabilities app might work, but I think that is beyond my capabilities at the moment. Hopefully somebody has a good idea?

This model? it is in this App: Honeywell Home App for Homey | Homey

I thought I read somewhere that was only for the wi-fi models. I’ll give it a try though to make sure.

So yeah, you have to sign in with a Resideo account to use that Homey App. And it has to be an account with devices added. So trying to add the device with Resideo first won’t work since the Resideo app only works for T6 Wi-Fi, not Z-Wave. For the Z-Wave model, they assume you are using a Z-Wave controller and don’t seem to have any of their own apps to control it.

OK, so I ended up building a Home Assistant server and adding it there. Which annoys me, the point of Homey was to keep it simple. But OK. So now the thermostat is in Home Assistant. Then I use the official Home Assistant app to bring the thermostat into Homey. At least this way I will be able to use the Homey integration with Alexa to voice control it.

But even with it being in Homey and showing current temp, humidity, etc. I can’t figure out how to set the temp in Homey. Am I missing something obvious?

Try it with Home Assistant Community app, it works great. I’m using it since it’s been published.

The ‘official’ apps can be very basic and limited.
