Error-message

Hi

yesterday my Homey pro 2016-2019 stopped working. It disconected from the network and now i cant reconnect it. When i try i get the same error-message every time.

I cant make it enter recoverymood either. Nothing happens when i turn it upside down.

Anyone got any ideas?

Can you try this:

  1. Plug Homey in
  2. After ~ 30 s, turn it upside down
  3. After ~ 60 s, ignore the fact Homey doesn’t start to speak, open Homey app and select “Add new Homey”
  4. When you can connect your phone’s wifi to Homey’s access point, select menu item “Full software download”
  5. In case 4. doesn’t solve it, ánd you happen to have a cloud backup:
start over starting from 1. to 3. and next,
select menu item “Perform Factory reset”
  6. I’m not sure if it’s possible to restore a backup right afterwards, otherwise just start over starting from 1. to 3. and select “Restore a backup”

Thanks for the detailed steps, Peter Kawa. I’m not the original poster, but I’m having a similar issue with my Homey Pro (2016-2019). It also won’t enter recovery mode when turned upside down. I’ll try the method you suggested and see if the “Full software download” option works. Appreciate the help!

“Structure needs cleaning” is indicative of file system corruption.

Yeah. Due to storage degrading most probably?

Yes, eMMC will start failing at some point (and when it does, there’s not much more that you can do other than replace it, which is going to be a challenge/impossible with the older Homeys).

My guess is that we will be seeing a lot more of these issues. Planned obsolescence

Ok, got me interested :winking_face_with_tongue:

Want upgrade to Pro 2023 better donit before the 2019 fails then. Any way to test MCC health ?

Btw, would love to pry open and old one and see if it would be replacable.

No. The new Homey’s can be rooted and you can run system tools, but no such thing on the older models.

Unless you know how to (de)solder BGA packages, that’s going to be difficult. FWIW, the old Homey’s have a Solidrun iMX6 MicroSoM module on board.

Hmm, no that’s esy out of my league I’m afraid…

Oh well…
