Drastic drop in Zigbee range after latest Homey Pro update

Hi everyone,

Over the last few days, I’ve been facing a critical issue with my Zigbee network on my Homey Pro. Right after the latest Homey Pro firmware update, my Zigbee range practically cut in half. I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence, but here are the facts:

  • Before: Excellent coverage, the signal reached up to 50 meters outside without any issues.

  • Now: The range stops at about 20 meters. As soon as it passes through a single external wall to go outside, devices drop offline.

This is mainly affecting my thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) and Sonoff Zigbee devices, which used to work perfectly.

My network setup and mesh attempts:

  • The Coordinators/Dongles: I am using a new Sonoff version (Yellow), which I recently updated to the latest firmware via Bluetooth, and an old Sonoff version (Orange), which is not firmware-upgradable. Both are now experiencing the exact same massive drop in range.

  • The Intermediate Router: Right in the middle of the run, specifically to help the mesh, I have a mains-powered Sonoff Zigbee Mini R2. Even though it should act as a repeater and extend the signal to cover the original 50-meter distance, the end devices outside still can’t connect—as if the signal drops before reaching them, or they refuse to route through the Mini R2.

Since this performance drop hit the entire infrastructure right after the Homey Pro update, I have a few questions for the community.

My questions for you:

  1. Has anyone else noticed a sudden drop in radio power or issues with Zigbee routing/meshing following the latest Homey Pro updates? Could the update have triggered an automatic Zigbee channel change that is now conflicting with my Wi-Fi?

  2. I am currently looking at the Homey Developer Tools (tools.developer.homey.app) Zigbee section. Aside from checking the basic LQI and Route columns, are there specific advanced tools, community apps, or scripts to monitor node stability and see exactly why these external devices keep refusing to route through the Sonoff Mini R2?

Thanks to anyone who can give me a hand with troubleshooting!

Your FP300 is flooding the network with messages. Take it off power, then power off your Homey for at least 10 minutes, then power Homey on again (but not the FP300) and wait for a couple of hours to see if the network heals itself.

could he be the general problem?

Yes, it could, therefore the instructions that I posted.

Hmm, for me it seems 13.2.1 changed something regarding message flow in zigbee. Some Aqara devices and my few Nous devices show now much, much higher RX and TX numbers. The last Homey restart was 3 1/2 days ago.

500 messages per second

I followed your instructions, but the Sonoffs still don’t connect - the closest router is on the stairs porch (about 10m)

10m is already a stretch for Zigbee, you shouldn’t assume a range of more than about 5m (and yes, it worked before, but it could be that a source of interference has appeared that is now causing these issues).
