However, i noticed that i’m unable to install any apps? Not sure if this is related to the update or not?
As I had issues with Alexa app (Jamie Peake) - i uninstalled this, and tried a reinstall. Despite the default message that it’ll be installed shortly….i never does?
I have tried restarting the unit a few times….but still no joy?
I’ve tried initiating other app installs i.e. myVaillant (Pallieter Verhoeven) etc. But same issue, i get the default message that it’ll be installed shortly but nothing happens?
Can someone please advise? Is there a known issue just now? or something related to 12.9.0 update or what?
Just asking. We are trying to help isolate the issue.
Pls note system updates and App installation use different architecture.
We know of others with fe exotic DNS or at least not default configuration to have issues with installing apps.
Update: also verified on a Homey Pro 2018 with original v12.9.0 as the first test was on a newer alpha firmware. So Two Homey’s the install verified.
Also if it was something many users would have issue’s with, you would read that here and on Slack. You are afaik now the only one reporting an issue installing Homey apps..
That sounds to me something is broke after i did the 12.9.0 update on my Homey Pro (Early 2019)? Great….everything else appears to work ok, but i just cant seem to install any apps anymore?
hmmm not sure what to try now, already restarted the unit multiple times - also did a hard power down for 1-2mins….but still no joy?? sigh…
I tried unplugged the homey unit for over 10mins as suggested this morning.
Unfortunately it still did not make any difference? When requesting an app install i.e. better logic etc. I get the usual popup window stating that i’ll be installed shortly….Nothing happens though?
In regards to IPv6, i’ve already got this disabled on the router. This is what i get after trying the link from Dijker below.
It’s a far stretch and maybe a little impractical, but in order to rule out an issue with your internet connection: would you be able to set up a hotspot on your phone with the same WiFi SSID/network name and password as your router and check (after a restart) whether your Homey is able to connect to the internet via that route?
Of course you would temporarily need to disable WiFi on your router (as you will be using the same SSID). Also your phone needs to connect to its mobile data connection (3G/4G etc.), not the WiFi.
But again, this is somewhat impractical, so I understand if this is not an option .
Following on from my last set of actions this morning (1 and 2 below):
Power down of the unit for over 10 mins.
I had reviewed my router settings but no changes were made as I had confirmed that IP6V was already disabled.
After the above (and waiting for the unit to settle as everything loaded up) i proceeded to try and App installs again - unfortunately this did not work. Tried both homey desktop and the mobile app to initiate an install. Both cases, the usual popup message that the app will install shortly but nothing happens.
Following that i did the following (3 and 4):
Reviewed some of the installed Apps - and decided to disable 2 specifics apps
i) Home Community Store
ii) Location and Presence
I don’t believe i was using these so wanted to save on some memory usage?
I accessed the https://tools.developer.homey.app/ - and this time, I tried a restart of the unit via this UI. Previously I restarted using the homey desktop or mobile app.
After the system came back online…..i tried installing Apps again - via homey desktop and mobile.
Finally it seems to kick into action and worked!?
I honesty can’t figure out what made it work? I do wonder if it was the power down of the unit, and then just a further restart after a period of time? I can’t imagine disable some apps would have resolved it….or whenever a restart from the developer tools made that difference? I never restarted via the dev tools before - always restart via the homey app?
Thanks for everyone’s support! I got there in the end….
Good to hear it’s solved with some magic, specific moon and star positions
Some thoughts:
Correct. I’ve also a 0/10 result, IPv6 is disabled here as well.
No. Restarting is restarting.
Hehehe, sounds like the Widows error “Install failed successfully - press OK”
I"ve also no clue what the cause was.
Regarding the disabling of some apps as a possible cause:
On my 2019 I can install apps beyond the 1GB RAM limit, it’ll just begins to use the swap partition (not recommended of course).
Had the Homey Pro for about 4-5 years now, and its been solid until now. Not had a single issue in the past!
I noticed that i only had about 60-75 MB left of memory at one point, so decided to disable some apps (like Homey Community Store - HCS) in case the lack of memory was causing an issue i.e. unable to install apps? But who knows, very much a black box this device!
Just curious is HCS no longer being used or supported? I’m pretty sure i used HCS to install the Nuki Direct App which i still use.
