Can't connect IKEA matter devices

ik verbind eerst alle nieuwe componenten met de ikea app zelf

daarna open ik homey en lees ik in 1 beweging alle nieuwe componenten in homey

Just as a side note, I am able to add the sensor to Apple HomeKit for some reason.
Isn’t that strange?

I understand what you’re saying @bart_ghysel since I’m Dutch too, but please use the English language in this part of the Community , so everybody can understand your reply

You can use the QR code or de codes

Interesting, although yet to discover if I received a faulty or damaged in transit Homey Pro, but it took two days for me to connect a dozen or so IKEA devices, to the Homey Pro.

However, once obtained a matter capable Apple TV, it took twenty minutes!?

Think Homey has an issue?

This did the trick. update ikea app, then i went to ikea app and restarted it and immediatlky after 2 days of fighting i worked.

yep, that is how I do it: connect Matter devices to Homekit first and then share them to Homey. Added advantage is that you will get OTA updates via Apple Home every now and then.

I have 17 different Ikea Matter devices connected directly to my HP23. They work perfectly when pairing them. Just insert the battery or plug in the lamp and the devices automatically go into pairing mode, and Homey finds them immediately.

However, four Kajplats lamps broke within a period of five days. They were only about 1.5–2 months old. That was very strange, and it certainly makes you wonder about the build quality. But Ikea replaced them right away — excellent customer service.

Hi, i managed to pair 2x IKEA GRILLPLATS Smart Plug and 2x IKEA BILRESA 2 Button Remote directly to my Homey pro (V13.1.5).
Steps:

  1. Enable IP6 in your router
  2. Install the IKEA Home Smart app on your Homey Pro (This will give you instructions how to set the devices in pairing mode
  3. First install the GRILLPLATS Smart Plug(s) (That are also Thread Routers)
  4. Goto Add new equipment and select the GRILLPLATS Plug. Presss Install.
  5. In the next window (Matter) you can select “Connect with Homey” or “Connect via Android”. Select the “Connect via Android” method.
Now you get a dialog on how to put it in pairing mode ((Keep ON/OFF switch pressed for 10 seconds)
  6. Keep your phone near the GRILLPLAT (Detection is done via Bluetooth)
  7. Scan the Matter QR-code of the device.
  8. The device will be added and you can select the location of the device.

After the pairing is done most of my zones didn’t show anymore, but this is fixed after re-starting the Homey app.

Hopes this will help some people.

A fair suggestion but the problem is that the Ikea smart home app forces you to first pair an IKEA bridge and the whole point of owning Homey is to not have additional bridges from additional brands.

I had similar issues but managed to install my GRILLPLATS (and other IKEA Matter devices by using an old-ish spare-phone. (described in this thread: Thread network question )

I don’t use IPv6 at all (disabled in router) so I don’t think that matters.

Short version:
I took my old-ish phone, did factory reset, and only installed & configured Homey app.
Keeping phone, Homey and GRILLPLATS plugs really close together during config.
It took a couple of tries but all the sudden it worked just fine and by repeating on all “hard to config” devices I have all my IKEA stuff properly installed !

They mean the Homey IKEA app, not the one for your phone.

At least for me, that’s definitely not the case. I use 9 additional bridges (Tado, Philips Hue, ThirdReality, SwitchBot, Tuya, Xiaomi, 2x HomeWizard Link, Eufy Homebase) and counting. Additional bridges often come with benefits too, like OTA updates for devices, manufacturer-specific features or support for additional protocols which aren’t supported by Homey.

Just thought I would add my findings, I have had more luck using the web portal instead of the phone app to add my Kajplats bulbs to Homey, but some still show unavailable at times..

So who’s actual problem is this? I find it hard to understand how Homey finds the devices and starts to load it then fails at a thread stage, even when the sensor is lierealy placed on top of the Homey Pro.

This is a ridicualous sitaution… Whta re you supposed ot do, purchase 3 times more IKEA devices than you need and then spean days trying to get the amount you needed to pair. Or scrap Homey as this is the weak link.

The tech support for Homey is non existant and really finding it hard to get from the Homey experts a resolution. It should not b upto the community to trouble shoot the Homey Hardware and also the Homey offical apps…

HOMEY STEP UP YOUR GAME

From my experience, restart your phone and your homey and in 95% of cases this will resolve the issue if you can’t connect your device.
