i bought some IKEA bilresa remotes (both butten and rotary version) and 2 kajplats E27 white spectrum bulbs. all these devices are matter over thread devices. The problem i’m having is that i cant get them connected to my homey’s thread network. i have tried a android phone, iphone and my laptop. for the android and iphone both via homey and via the OS. when looking around i see some mixed results from other people and other platforms aswell (IKEA, Apple, Google and Homeassistant).
is this a homey bug or from the side of Ikea?
edit: i should probably also mention that we have a TADO X system (which works fine) with both the relay module aswell as a lose border gateway. i think together with the homey pro they make one larger thread network
I am the opposite. Im on SHS. I have managed all my matter and thread devices into homey (using smartthings as the TBR)
But Tado x (which worked fine on HP23) will NOT pair. One out of 6 valves has added. I cant do it at all. Any tips?
I bought all currently available matter devices. Whilst I had no problem adding them via HomeKit, the only device I was able to add to homey using the ikea homey app was the ikea klippbok.
Standing next to the homey pro didn’t help so I believe it’s homey related problem.
You can go to Homey Developer Tools to check which networks your devices belong to. Do you see more than one Thread network?
As you already mentioned there are quite a lot of reports of people having problems with the new Ikea devices. I’ve heard quite often that restarting the iPhone helps with pairing issues, but since you already tried with different devices I’m not sure if this is going to help you.
Personally I now have 15 of the new Ikea devices paired (pretty much every device they make besides the motion sensor) for quite some time. I think 1-2 devices maybe struggled a bit on first pairing, but managed after resetting the device and try again. Also I had one bulb that went unavailable every now and then, but now seems to behave after a full reset and repair for the last few days.
All that said I only use my Homey for Thread/Wifi and all my Zigbee devices are running on Zigbee2MQTT. I’m not sure if there were any software mitigations to this, but in the forum it has been mentioned that the chip used by the Homey Pro is not 100% ideal to handle both Zigbee and Thread simultaneously if you have a large number of devices.
I managed to fix it by unpowering the 2 tado border gateways and rebooting the homey. after this i could somewhat easily connect all devices. i now have reconnected the 2 tado border gateways and it seems to all stay working.
Would you mind explaining a little bit more in detail how you paired the IKEA matter devices? I´m also on SHS with the Homey Bridge and I´m not able to connect the Bilresa buttons for example.
Many Thanks!
Ive paired all of my ikea devices to their hub and then paired that to my shs with matter. All devices just bridged over.
The other advantage of this is that it will not affect the device limit for the bridge
If you want to use the Ikea hub as your TBR you will need to get homey to join/use that thread network. However there seems to be an issue with viewing the thread network at the moment.
I am in Ikea right now about to buy some of their new stuff
For matter devices the Homey apps are basically just pretty pictures and they all use the same system implementation, so this should not matter at all.
I understand what you’re saying @bart_ghysel since I’m Dutch too, but please use the English language in this part of the Community , so everybody can understand your reply
