Exact!
My previous point of contact at Tuya mentioned that some of their developers use Home Assistant as their personal smart home solution and started working on the Home Assistant integration as a side project. Maybe itâs time to consider some strategic bribery
Yeah! Just hand over some Homey Pros to these developers.
But seriously: as a partnership manager you can do this, right? You can say without any issue:âWe would like you to try our platform and enjoy the benefitsâ. I donât see any harm in that!
âOh and please forget that our founders called your products âgarbageâ â
Yes please forget that part
No, I havenât read 900 postsâŚ, so maybe the answer is already there, but is there any time frame for when this app will work again?
Just scroll back a few posts thenâŚ
Basically this is the key info from several posts above :
Thought the same. But went back to home assistant, using the prebuild raspberry pi image. Super stable, and till now, not a single line of yaml file written
All i said about HA stability and usability: i have to take that back. They upped their game significantly.
One of the coolest things: expose all your devices via matter and directly connect that to google home
Ok, quick question here (that is most likely possible to lookup elsewhere as wellâŚbut I am too lazy )
If you have both HA and Homey, is it possible to import all Tuya devices connected to the HA device in Homey? Or do you then have to work with two separate systems? (In case of the latter, I think a lot of people will in the end switch to HA completely)
I would be ok with some sort of additional hub for all Tuya devices in my household if that means I can import all connected devices to Homey. Currently I somewhat have that of course, because the Tuya app is that âhubâ. Only missing thing is getting it connected to Homey
Yes, however control can be limited, not all device types are supported, most will be only an on/off switch, but i think it also does scenes.
Your ha instance needs to be reachable from the internet
Thatâs only if you use the âofficialâ HA integration, which I would advise against. The HA community app is much better anyway.
Well, since the official Tuya app for Homey is dead, the basic idea was: how to work with Tuya devices from Homey while sticking closest to what is supported?
In using the HA community app, I might as well think of continuing to use the Homey Tuya Cloud community app.
I donât see why you think that the official HA app would be âclosest to what is supportedâ. Youâre going to have to set up all your imported-from-HA Tuya devices on Homey anyway, regardless of which app you use. And the community HA app supports more devices and doesnât require to expose your HA to the rest of the world.
Because Tuya built the HA Tuya integration, thatâs why
Thatâs irrelevant. The way the âofficialâ HA-for-Homey app imports these devices is not related in any way to how the Tuya-for-Homey app implements its devices.
I am not talking about the Tuya-for-Homey app.
In this construction (for Tuya) I would only use:
- The official Tuya for HA integration
- The HA-for-Homey app
And then completely forget about the Tuya-for-Homey apps (official or community for that matter)
Which still doesnât explain why âIn using the HA community app, I might as well think of continuing to use the Homey Tuya Cloud community appâ.
But if you donât feel comfortable using community apps, then yes, you can use the âofficialâ HA app (which isnât developed by, or in cooperation with, HA) and expose your HA to the outside world. Just be aware of the security implications of doing that.
Yes it does. If I use the official HA - Tuya integration it is supported by Tuya. (Like we hoped the official Homey - Tuya app would be supported by Tuya)
If I use the community HA - Tuya integration it is not supported by Tuya. So, I might as well use the community Homey - Tuya app. Either option is not supported by Tuya in that case.
I am completely comfortable using community apps. However, if an official app/integration exists I prefer that.
I guess I wasnât perfectly clear that I meant the âofficialâ HA-app-for-Homey and the community HA-app-for-Homey.
