[APP] Shelly Control - Smart home automation is that easy!

Then you have to upgrade to the new Shelly Control app. The Shelly 1PM Mini Gen3 on firmware version 2.0.0+ works just fine with the new Shelly Control app.

Did this, but not able to add the device it even can’t find the device

Did you remove it first from the Shelly Legacy app?

Yes, i did remove it, restarted everything even powered off homey etc.

I the normal Shelly app on my iPhone it’s working so the device is not broken…

strange thing is that in the legacy app i can see the device to add it (elk shelly wifi), but that Results in a Time out. In the control app i can’t even see it.

That’s strange indeed.

Is the Shelly device in the same IP subnet as your Homey? I believe that is needed for the auto-discovery function to work.

Does the Shelly device have a fixed/reserved IP address?

Yes, all same and fixed ip…

Maybe try to restart your Wi-Fi router/access point?

Also: can you access the web configuration page of the Shelly device via its IP address?

hi I access it via web. Already did a restant of the wifi

So strange… now it came up…

Hey there!
I currently have a bunch of Shelly 1L Gen3’s and 2L Gen3’s in my house. While the 1L are supported (yay, the other app didn’t!), the 2L isn’t there yet.

Is this already on your to-do list? Thanks!

Please check the first post for contact details though which you can make such requests.

I have a bunch of Shelly Plus Plug UK smart plugs that I want to transfer over to this new app. The old app would find them and add them instantly using the generic Shelly WiFi device. The new app doesn’t have that option, but has a Plus Plug LAN, which I presumed once the plug was initially added to WiFi using the Shelly mobile app, would then find them and import/add them to Homey (which has an Ethernet LAN connection and static IP)

I have tried everything, restarting, resetting, a full factory reset of the plug I’m testing with. I even tried all the other LAN plug options to add in Homey’s Shelly Control app. Nothing, just doesn’t see the plugs at all. Switch to the old app and found & added instantly.

Don’t know what I’m missing/c***ing up, but buggered if I know why they won’t add.

Anyone else tried/had success with using this app with the Plus Plug?

I believe the Plus Plug S LAN device was added based on my request to Drenso to add support for my Shelly Plus Plug S Gen2. This is the EU version.

It works well with my device and the Shelly Control app found it instantly (I first removed it from the Shelly Legacy app).

Maybe the UK version is different. Also I am not sure whether different generations exist. Maybe Drenso can assist. They asked me for an interview of my device that provided the necessary technical details for them to implement support.

Thank @SunBeech I’ll give them a shout tomorrow and see what they say… quite possible that the Plus Plug UK has a different identifier that’s tripping it up. Most of my Plus Plugs are new (or very recently purchased)

It’s strange that they renamed the old app to “Legacy” while there’s still no Homey Cloud support for the Gen3 and older devices. I mean, the Homey Cloud users might think that the Legacy app no longer works and that their Gen2/Gen3 device isn’t supported.

Indeed… as the new app is called Shelly Control, there wasn’t a pressing need to rename the old app. Couldn’t they have just amended the description with a disclaimer at the top in bold caps, and a link to the new app…

(Or is that just my Aspie brain going on logic overload ha ha  )

It also isn’t very user-friendly. Homey Cloud was meant to be user-friendly, that’s why all kinds of “advanced” features don’t exist there. I’m sure that if a user sees 2 apps “Shelly (Legacy)” and “Shelly Control”, they might assume that Legacy doesn’t work anymore and they need Shelly Control for their device. Since that doesn’t yet support their Gen3 device, they might leave a bad review or think that Homey doesn’t support the device at all.

Especially given Shelly’s cloud API is very open (compared to most other companies who lock the api docs behind paywalls or partnerships), anyone can use it and all of the docs are public. It probably doesn’t take long to add them, and even if there are too many devices that it takes a lot of time, you can at least add the most popular ones (I guess that would be: smart plugs, 1, 1 mini, 1PM, 1PM mini and 2PM).

They already mentioned here that cloud will be added later, and the message in the description of the old app is also there. So, not sure what everybody is nagging about, but it looks to me that most simply refuse to read.

Also, local control always beats cloud :man_shrugging:t2:

If you are missing something, just mail the support address and you should get a official reply soon enough.

How do you get LAN access on Homey Bridge/Homey Cloud then? Athom states in their docs that LAN access is not possible on Homey Cloud (even with Homey Bridge)

To be honest I hadn’t had a chance to check, as I’ve had the old app installed and running for some time, and I only usually go to an apps page if there’s an update to install, or I have a fault to report. As that app is no longer supported, I hadn’t had cause to visit its page.

I’m currently more concerned with not being able to add my new Plus Plugs with the new app.

But the renaming the old app like that, doesn’t seem to make logical sense to me. That’s all I was trying to express… not nagging, just expressing an opinion.
