According to the Athom mailing they are developing an official app together with Ring. Strange enough “nobody” at Ring knows anything about this…
Although the current Ring app works most of the time I have an IFTTT flow for when somebody is ringing, failed 0 times since I’ve created that. Let’s hope they really are creating an official app…
So you know every person at Ring?
Could it possibly be that it’s the same as with Athom’s Support? Erik and Bas definitely don’t know everything what happens in the background either.
Apologies for bumping an old topic, but I could not find a support topic for the official Ring App (only for the community edition).
Installed a Ring Wired doorbell yesterday, but can’t see the camera image in the official App. It works in the community edition though, but that App uses 45 MB instead of 15 MB. I’m short of memory (512 MB), so I’d rather use the official App.
The official Ring app doesn’t support live footage at the moment and therefore also can’t show Snapshot. The community app Ring from Danee de Kruyff does support this function. Development is of course working on getting live footage to work.
I’m a new Homey user and now I have a question. I have a Ring Wireless doorbell (gen 2) which I connected via the Ring app to my Homey Pro. Via Homey Pro I can access my Ring doorbell camera.
Only when I make a flow, that when someone uses my doorbell, I want to receive a push messsage from my Homey like “someone is on your doorbell”.
But this doesn’t work, nothing happens. Does Homey Pro not work with a wireless Ring doorbell?
I checked the forum but now I see indeed that the trigger when someone rings the doorbell is not working anymore unfortunately. I use the official Ring App.
I did some months ago a lot of research and what I found out is that Ring does not work anymore with any other 3th party devices like Homey. Ring is from Amazon so it only works with Amazon Alexa.
I bought some Amazon Echo devices and Ring works fantastic now on those devices. I get all messages (push notifications, voice and video).
Also big advantage is that I have a lot of Tapo camera’s and Tapo P115 smart plugs. This also not work with Homey, but with Alexa it also works great. With Alexa I can also set a lot of routines.
So for me the Homey Pro is very disappointed that a device from €400 can’t work with Ring and Tapo.
